Arda Turan

Having followed him for more than a decade now, he is surely no alpha male, he would love to be one though. He has no leadership skills whatsoever. He's a media maniac, loves to talk and talks too much. And one thing: when he arrived at Barça he thought of himself as having achieved everything, while this is only the start, you don't come to Barça as your final stage of career, you come to top your career off with the best performance ever. See the difference, that's why, even in a world where he was a much better player, that attitude would get you nowhere.

Well said. He obviously "gave up" when he made it to Barcelona. He just came here for the easy trophies behind great players. He doesn't give a shit about playing anymore. He is just enjoying money and the fame. He could have been good for us.

Nowhere near as bad a deal as Paulinho. At least we didn't buy him from a retirement league that every other club sells their trash to.

I'm in no way defending Paulinho deal, because I think it will be terrible deal, but at least it looks like Paulinho is going to give his all for this club. That's already more than Arda Turan..

Not sure a player who gave up on his career years ago to move to China would "give his all for this club." That's basically the definition of lacking ambition.

I thought he gave up 7,5 million his own future salary to come here? That shows dedication to me and willing to move here and play well. More than what Arda has ever done. That already is a positive sign to me..

You cannot know that, when we bought Arda, before he started playing for us, everyone thought Arda will effortlessly replace Iniesta, the hype was big, we felt "safe" and everyone was convinced he will be a great for us, as in comparison to Paulinho, I can barely find any comment yet who thinks he will be good for us, maybe like Arda he will be lazy, lay on the bench all day and will just collect his paycheck..

It yet remains to be seen what comes about from Paulinho. So in that respect, we can't compare the two.

You mean the only thing you have for Paulinho is the fact that you can hope for him and have kind of an expected value that is still positive, while for Arda Turan, this expected value approached zero rather quickly?

One would need to compare both of them at the times when theye were bought. I still don't know why Arda was bought and what Enrique's plan was with him, but I guess in terms of "hope", I personally thought Arda's absolute maximum (if he was lucky that is) would be a Rakitic performance. But he has proven me right in that he didn't add shit to this team.

As for Paulinho, it's again an amateurish move because there's quite some hard signalling when you decide to go to the Chinese league. But if he as given up on such a high salary, one can hope that he is determined. Again, he also might just want to leave China, I don't know if a Brazilian player can feel home there, because the cultural shock must be quite something, whereas, I don't see Brazilians having problems in Barcelona/Catalunya.

Exactly. Him coming here with better attitude is already better than what Arda gave us. That's pretty much the only positive right now, though.

that shows dedication to play well?
that only shows that he's not stupid unlike our corrupted board that went for him.when was the last time top european club,in this case top3 club in the world, signed rejects and flops from china?
and arda did agreed to sit out 6 months while we had transfer ban, isn't that also dedication and will to move and play well?

I kinda feel bad for this guy... he really was good for atletico...but the crazy thing is being a good player doesn't mean you'll be good for Barcelona and that is seen with a lot of these players... it's tough to assert themselves into barca gameplay... not just pas pass pass pass pass pass pass pass pass.. Barcelona is more than just passing.... but i hope he finds happiness. He did sit out for 6 months, i remember.. but with Barca fans we truly don't have the patience...

i hope a lot of our mediocre players would be gone by 31st august.. like for real.. we need space for talent and not seat-fillers..
