Argentina

Aurelius where are you ? I am eager to hear your opinion :)

I am crying my friend. :(

Well the team just has to get on with it. The issue aside from who is in goal is the midfield. Masche has no reliable deputy as Kranevitter/Romero was not picked. di Maria can tuck in again no sign of Gaitan.

What worries me and other supporters is the form of Gago/Banega. In which case if it is a choice between Perez and Sosa it has to be the former. Benfica badly missed him and Markovic in the EL final. Other than that the selections are fine although one more natural fullback like Peruzzi who could play either side was not chosen.

Come on Argentina:

Just Get over it, Argentina wont win wc. Messi didnt exactly have any luck either - maradona/sabella plus a terrible defense. They Will win some matches and then Get schooled by germany or something. Unfortunately.

Let me put it otherwise: not good enough to win wc. Spain, brazil, germany and maybe Even france and portugal are bigger names in my book.

If they get their tactics right and don't leave the defense exposed then they have a chance with that attack. Look at Di Maria tonight, he was sensational, if he brings that to Brazil and Messi and Aguero play to their potential then they can beat anyone.

But they can't be so naive like in previous tournaments.

Sabella is anything but naive (aside from his choice of keeper). If necessary he will go to defensive set up when required and hit with three of the fantastic four on the break. He's has success with it at club level and in some international games recently.

I would hate for Argentina win a WC in front of our fans but I think people are selling them short. You don't need world class defenders or world class midfielders, you just need a system that can allow you do defend well enough like Scolari did for us in 2002 and let you brilliant attackers do the rest.

Voodoo is notorious for polluting threads with his macabre negativity. He's been trying to make this place his new home.

2013 - 2014 Club Season for Argie Fab Four

Angel Di Maria 52 games
Lionel Messi 46 games
Gonzalo Higuain 44 games
Sergio Aguero 36 games

Leo 41 goals
Kun 32 goals
Pipita 24 goals
Dive Maria 11 goals

Angel 24 assists
Messiah 14 assists
Gonzalo 11 assists
Sergio 9 assists

Gonzalo Kun Angel Messi 178 Matches played => 108 goals => 58 assists .

Now that's 4 big reasons why I have them as the WC faves. They will produce at least a goal a game. The fact that all 4 play at the same time for the national team makes them even more dynamic.

The Argie defense shored up nicely with Garay having a monster year at Benifica. Zabaleta at right back provides good crosses and build up. Masche their midfield warrior. What's not to like?
