I was really baffled that some people here thought that this was the 'best' Arsenal side in years. I didn't see a whole lot of Arsenal matches last year but I saw more than a few and saw how RVP single-handedly on most occasions really saved the situation for them. Arsenal rely entirely on Cazorla to provide the cutting-edge passes on the edge of the box but they lack somebody to put the ball in the back of the net. And this was always going to be a problem for them. They really lack a consistent goal-scorer. Their midfield will be boosted with the arrival of Jack Wilshere but after more than a year out and with his lack of experience, how far will he carry them????

Arsenal's defense isn't bad but it's not exceptional either and it showed in this match. The fact of the matter is Arsenal are light up front but are pretty decent in most areas (but not exceptional). They are a very good side but they are not an elite side.

People keep putting down Arsenal, yet they still stay 3rd in the most competitive league of Europe (competitive =/= houses best teams of Europe)

But competitive =/= Chelsea or one of the manc clubs winning it every time. The French league or the Bundesliga, for instance, are more competitive. In fact, aside from la Liga, the EPL is the second least competitive big League in the world.

Is that the same french league in which Lyon won the title 7 years in a row?

He's going to play another U21 match at least, and it looks like Wenger will try to ease him back into the team nearer the end of the month.
