As long as they can keep their players they will be the team that can represent La Liga the best out of the other CL contenders.

Have a decent sized squad to be able to cope. Unlike Sociedad etc.

Still probably lack a bit of depth/quality at CB/LB and CF but they seem to fins players and have some decent younger players coming through.

They desperately need a striker more so than anything else.

I think what they need most is a central midfielder alongside Herrera and Iturraspe. Aduriz is not world class but he's improved a lot compared to his Valencia days, imo.

Rico has done fairly well, Benat definitely has the talent even if he's off form, and De Marcos is a very capable CM. Midfield is not where we lack any players. There are also a lot of good academy players from Lezama like Ruiz de Galarrreta to stack on more in the future.

Aduriz is good but he's 32 years old and less than 10 days from being 33. Sola isn't very talented either. Talented Basque strikers aren't exactly on the market right now but again, there are some in the academy like Guillermo and Inaki. It'll be a while before they are ready, but I think we can survive till then.

This weekend was great. Elche and Osasuna did us favors by holding Villarreal and Sociedad respectively. Now seems like nothing has changed from last Wednesday, even though we lost to Celta. Still 6 points behind you. It will be very interesting until the end, now everything depends on maturity and continuity of form, there is very less space for mistakes, if no place at all. Let's wait and see what happens. I'm optimistic

You still have to play Betis away; they might not be great but the derby will always be very intense and competitive. If you survive that, you're still coming to San Mames against us in which we have a massive advantage. The gap is big at this point but the thing I'm worried about is missing both Gurpegi and Ibai through injury as well as Laporte for the next game through suspension. The midfielders need to remain strong and we must have Aduriz continue his great form.
