13 - Inaki Pena
Without a doubt, the Barca B prospect who really got screwed over by the first-team's squad confusion this season.
Inaki Pena is a 22-year-old homegrown goalkeeper who has spent the last 3 seasons now playing a key role with Barca B.
Although smaller for a goalkeeper at 1.82m, he is exceptionally agile and his top reflexes allow him to excel in one-on-ones and especially saving penalties, as shown in the play-off semi final shootout last season where he managed to save 4 penalties in spite of Barca B's loss. He is excellent at distribution and great with his feet.
This season will be a frustrating one for Inaki. Arnau Tenas, another young goalkeeper who has come up through Barca's youth ranks, is taking the starting spot for Barca B this season and it is Inaki's 'turn' to ride with the first-team as Tenas has done for the last two years. The initial idea was for Pena to become the backup goalie, with the possible transfer of Neto, therefore a strong offer from Granada for his loan was rejected where he was guaranteed full minutes.
However Neto has not left the club and now that Tenas has returned from international break, Inaki will spend the next season as third goalkeeper for the first-team despite his registration with Barca B. A shame for a talented prospect as he could have gone on loan to Granada for a starting spot, nevertheless the club fully believes in him and he will likely stay at Barca for many years to come. When Ter Stegen leaves/retires Inaki will surely be in the discussion to become the starter. The Barca B player with the most consolidation at Barca, in my opinion.
🟢 - Already de facto promoted and will likely become an official first-team member next season.
