FC Barcelona scored 8 goals vs. Casablanca in their 2nd match of pre-season. Messi (3), Alexis (2), Dani Alves, Sergi Gomez and Deulofeu were on the scoresheet for Barca, the first two scored their goals before the break. Tito Vilanova used 21 players, with only Pinto playing the entire 90 match.
Barca dominate
FC Barcelona took control of the match from the starting whistle. The Catalans pinned Raja Club Althetic back into their own half as the Moroccan team quickly tried to fend off the Azulgrana threat by stacking their defence. Raja could do little, however, to keep the ball out of the net in Barça’s first goal as Alexis fired Barça ahead after he was assisted by Dani Alves.
0-5 at the break
With the 0-1 on the scoreboard, the Moroccan side upped their pace and looked for the equaliser. Barça, however, shut the door to any chance of a fight back before the half as the Azulgrana players scored 4 times in 11 minutes, 3 of them were Messi’s. The Argentine scored the second, third and fifth goals before the referee signaled that the first 45 minutes were up.
The Chilean scored Barça’s fourth, in a play that involved both Messi and Afellay. Thee three forwards worked together perfectly as Raja’s defence ceded ground every time the Azulgranas threatened to score. At the break, Barça were up 0-5.
Three goals in the second half
The second half, with no substitutions from Tito at the break, started off in the same way the first one ended: with Messi, who made his pre-season debut, as the driving force behind the team. The Argentine enjoyed two clear chances to score, but he was denied by the woodwork and the keeper El Had, respectively. Later on, Alexis was brought down in the area and Dani Alves fired away from the penalty spot to make it 0-6.
In the final minutes of the game, after Tito had subbed out the entire team - with the exception of Pinto - Sergi Gomez and Deulofeu put the icing on Barça’s perfect performance with two more goals.
