Difficult to gauge anything from these online polls because everyone all over the World can vote. Among the socis it's probably much closer, if not Bartomeu leading.

Bartomeu is very close, damn. Ridiculous how so much socios can still vote for him after all the scandals which the board, where he was a major part of, went through.

i don't remember well so can't be more accurate but i recall seeing a poll about barça and then seeing how differently the socio voted. Sorry, that's really vague.

No idea but if I remember correctly he has run for presidency before.

Yes, he placed 3rd in the 2003-elections behind Laporta and Bassat. He was also for a while, in front of the 2010-elecions, part of the Medina/Minguella-project, that in the end was lead by Santiago Salvat. Majo broke out of this project because of difference in opinions.

A poll in the start of March among socis carried out by Radio Catalunya had Laporta at 34.6% and Bartomeu down at 15.6%.

BUT a lot has changed since then. It's probably much, much closer now and I wouldn't be surprised if a similar poll would have Bartomeu with a narrow lead atm.

it wasn't a difference between polls though, rather between polls and the actual votes, maybe something related to camp nou... at least 2 years ago i think.

Socios may well think completely differently than a broader census

Are you talking about the Espai Barca project?

In the online polls most people were against it, but the socis voted in an overwhelming majority for it.

That's my point with online polls though. You and I can vote in these polls. Everyone can. The power of social media. But it's different in how socis, especially those in Catalunya interpret these things. Many among the older generation are not social media. They just go to the games, read MD and SPORT and live their life as it goes and it's therefore much easier to influence them, especially when you have Grupo Godo(MD) behind a certain candidate. Like Sandro Rosell in 2010 and most likely his buddy Bartomeu now.

The good, so far, is that candidates are correctly placing Qatar front & center as a club issue

Having elections in the middle of summer like this also favors Barto as Benedito correctly pointed out as socio turnout will be far less than had it taken place on a match day

When should the elections have been called then?

The worst thing for team would be to have it on a match day or during season.

Scraping the the barrel now.

Lol.

Not the worst thing for the team at all. Could have had it on final match day. More socis would have been available then. Less people, especially those flying in from abroad would favour Bartomeu.
