ManUtd did 150% in first half (well, until we scored anyway) so it was an intense start and obviously we struggled to control. I agree about diminished pressing from us and I am wary of Rakitic playing RM again as Messi played even more centrally.
Second half looked boring but we played with second string bar Iniesta and Pique while Mou kept quite a few key players. With that in mind, I think we did well in controlling the midfield. Props to Iniesta, Roberto and Denis.
Defense looked solid but with lack of offensive plays from full-backs in both halves. Forward line of Paco, Munir and Turan is just unfortunate.

Agree, he's a perfect player for Mourinho's team though.
This team is looking fantastic when it is in quick-hitting mode. Both Alena and S. Roberto jump into attack super fast, which is what MSN need from the midfield. We saw way too little of this from the midfield last season.
I guess Semedo will have to play almost all the time right off the bat, even though he has a lot to learn about playing for this team. This will be a weak point for at least a while, still probably better than last season.
The top three CBs are a huge plus. That is quite a backup keeper, the keeper position is strong.
This pre-season is valuable because it can prove to Valverde which players should play very little or never: D. Suarez, Arda, Paco, Vidal, probably Marlon, Samper, Douglas. I think Munir and Vermaelen could make this team, they are not as bad as the alternatives.

That second half really does reinforce opinions on a lot of the squad players; Denis Suarez - just not good enough, Turan needs to GTFO, Iniesta largely ineffective in attack, Digne and Vidal didn't show much, Munir hasn't shown much improvement and still looks the same - not good enough to get past decent defenders, etc.
It's still early on, but the sub team is not even good enough to beat a lower end liga team IMO; which could be a problem for us, yet again.

His play reminds me so much of Rafinha , good technique but basically ineffective . I'd sell Rafinha and use Alena against weaker opposition .
As soon as I saw Pique flat out after a headed challenge I knew Fellaini would be involved , same thing happens virtually every time he plays - yet he gets away with it .
I honestly believe that Gomes will surprise many of you this season !
I just hope I get the credit for standing up for him all the time
Dead right on all points ....of those mentioned only Denis Suarez has a chance to progress IMHO
