Barca Transfers and Rumors

We should totally buy Sanchez from Ajax. Kid has great talent. I would consider that a smart transfer for the future. Then RB and AM/CM and we're set.

Basically, Davinson Sanchez, Coutinho/Bernardo (or another player), and RB and I'm happy with this summer.

Top class CM won't happen, and Rakitic/Roberto will do well in that position if surrounded by quality players. Plus, there's also a chance that some players we don't count on right now will surprise some people next season, under the right manager.

Klopp said today we can get Coutinho for only 400 mil GBP

How good is Coutinho defensively? That youtube video makes me drool, but a lot of players look good in highlight videos..

He's not great defensively but he's as good as any we currently have ( apart from Busqs ) . It's a part of his game that he's improved dramatically , he's very determined and as tough as old boots though .

Coutinho is a quality player, no sane person would argue with that.

The legitimate question raised by many here is; is he the type of midfielder we need ATM?

Well we need some creativity badly and he's the guy to do that . He's proven already that he can link up great with both Suarez and Neymar so it's not even a risk in getting him to be honest .

Contract until 2022. Not as easy as it sounds. We only got Suarez because Liverpool promised him he could leave if a great offer came in for him.

Contract extension means the price can be higher, not that a transfer is less likely. Coutinho has slim chances to win trophies at Liverpool. If he cares about that, he'll move. If he doesn't, he'll stay. It's up to him really, what he wants to do with his career.

When Barca or Madrid come knocking, latin or americo latin players tend to take the train.

They can make him stay. Other teams have done it before. Contract duration matters, and even if they're willing to sell, I'm sure they'll demand a fee in the Bale region of 100m. They hold the chips, not Barca.

Like Verratti for PSG, Coutinho IS the face of Liverpool. Different owners and dynamics I know, but Liverpool don't need the money either and want to push on for a PL title.

They can't force him to stay tbh. They can try to convince him, but if he is set to move in order to play at a higher level, it's not much Liverpool can do. It really depends on him and on how much he wants to come to Barca. If he is not up for it, he'll probably stay at Liverpool.

They forced Suarez to stay when he wanted to join Arsenal and publicly stated he wanted to leave.

They might sell him if Coutinho insists on so and they feel like they're better off with investing the money in someone that won't ruin the atmosphere in the dressing room, however Coutinho doesn't strike as the guy who would go on a strike.

I might be wrong, but I would be surprised if they let him go for less than 100m.

Is he worth that much? I don't know.

That was totally different and Arsenal offered much less than Liverpool would ever have been willing to accept as they thought Suarez had a buy out.

Suarez never pushed for that move after Gerrard persuaded him to stay and wait for Barca or Madrid.

In general when players push to move they get the move in the end.

Do you think Liverpool would accept a 80-90 bid though? Don't you think they are in the position to push that fee up to the magic 100 number even if Coutinho skips training, pre-season etc.

80-90m in the first place is a big price to pay for a player who's far more of an attacking midfielder while we need a different kind of midfielder the most. A Kroos, Modric, or even Thiago.

He doesn't worth 100m. But we'll overpay for players anyway. It's the price we have to pay for letting everyone know that we need players. We need to buy, other teams don't need to sell. Hence why we'll overpay to convince them to do it.

It's just about big enough of a sum, even in today's market.
