Barca Transfers and Rumors

Having Suarez and Denis on one side and Dembele and Aleix on other is far from terrible. We got unlucky with Dembele injury but still have options. Even Bob and could have had Rafinha if not injured also.

Not speaking about the left but having Deulofeu and Vidal as back up to RW is terrible in my opinion for a team like Barca. Those two would not be near the squads of any top teams at RW.

Thought it was soler at the time but the comms said Guedes. Never looked at it again.

2018-19:

In - Dybala & Coutinho

Out - Gomes, Vidal, Arda, Rafinha, Paco & Vermaelen

----------Suárez/Denis----------Messi/Dybala----------Dembélé/Deulofeu----------
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
--------Iniesta/Coutinho----------Busquets--------------Rakitić/Paulinho------------
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Alba/Digne--------Umtiti/Mascherano---Piqué/Marlon-------------Semedo/Roberto
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------ter Stegen/Cillessen--------------------------------------

Rakitić/Paulinho are far far from beeing good enough for the starting midfielder spot.
Our midfield will be just as useless or worse than the last 3 years.
Paulinho is not a midfielder, definatly not a CM.
Rakitic has lost all his footballing skills.

Coutinho + a proper CM is needed next year.

I believe Coutinho would get even more expensive next year. Liverpool might even improve his contract just to make things harder for us.

Coutinho's natural position is Attacking mid or winger, he's not a CM. Bringing a winger/AM that would cost most (if not all) of our transfer budget to replace Iniesta would be a huge gamble.

If you believe that a board won't play Semedo in order so that we would pay lower addons, then they will do the same with Dembele, and Dembele will get benched all the time, since we will pay up to 30 Millions for his 100 matches for Barca and CL matches.

So, since Dembele's addons are way higher than Semedo's, it would make sense to bench Dembele and save a lot of money, right?
Benching Dembele should be our priority in order to "save" a lot of money, right?

Or, as you see, this theory (about Semedo) doesn't make too much sense.

IIRC we have to pay 5M for every 50 games that Semedo plays until he signs second contract with us. That's why managing his games makes sense so he won't play 50 games this season and we can renew his contract next summer. There are no such conditions in Dembele's contract so we'll eventually have to pay addons to Dortmund, the only question is when.

That's for people who believe we are trying to save money by rotating Semedo a lot in his first months here which I don't believe is the case. I think resting/rotating him is purely Valverde's decision and I can understand his logic. Remember Semedo cuts his vacations short so he only rested for about 2 weeks in summer. He also runs a lot every game so I think Valverde doesn't want to burn him out and/or possibly get injured before the most important part of the season will start. Also, Roberto has done a pretty good job in games he played so far as RB so I don't really have a problem with Valverde's decisions so far.

Exactly. As much as I want him here, he will never play for Barca. There are three possible ways: get a proven player like him, look for young talents or produce new talents.
Teams know our situation and the urge for a stable midfield so that they won't sell at all or squeeze out every €. Young talents like Dembele sell rediculously overpriced and are a gamble, too and next la masia superstar might also take a while.
But it's not just the market, we as fans are complicated, too. No matter if we get proven players, young players, talents - they are too slow, have not enough technical ambitions, are too old or simple "will never be Barca material." At least that's what I read in the players section for the whole squad except Messi.
It is just not the dream team anymore. Take it or leave it. There will be other European clubs that outshine us in the CL for the next years. We should use the situation to learn, to get a new board and some potentially talented scouters and do what we did best during the dream team era: rely on our own.

Various rumours stating that we could get Goretzka in January for less than 20m. I'd say sell Gomes and get him. And sell Rakitić in the summer.

Getting Goretzka is a no brainer IMO. We might as well stock up on some young talent like RM have done. 15 or 20 million is nothing in today's market. Also he will get game time as Valverde rotates quite a bit.

1)

Giménez, Goretzka & Can, all without a contract next summer. And all would be an improvement to our squad.

Giménez > Vermaelen
Goretzka > Denis
Can > Gomes

2)

Marlon comes back from loan and will easily replace Mascherano, who is turning 34 this season.

3)

Buy Dybala.

Defense:
CB: Piqué, Umtiti, Marlon & Giménez.
LB: Alba & Digne.
RB: Semedo & Roberto.

Midfield:
ACM: Iniesta, Goretzka & Denis
CM: Rakitic & Can
DCM: Busquets & Paulinho

Attack:
LW: Suárez & Dybala.
CF: Messi.
RW: Dembélé & Deulofeu.

Sell: Arda, Rafinha, Gomes, Paco, Vermaelen, Vidal, Munir, Samper & Douglas.

Gimenez isnt getting a game for Atletico and it is a different ball game being a CB at Barca where are left more exposed in a high line and expect more on the ball.

As far as I am aware Gorezka is nothing like Denis as a player and would be better of replacing Raki/Gomes if anyone.

Can is decent but seems like off to Juve. Would rather take in better than him.

Mina is on his way at CB and Paulinho cant play DM.

Rakitic and Can as CM choices at a club like Barca is poor.

We will sign Yerri Mina, so Gimenez is not needed. Goretzka is good we should sign him. Dybala would cost too much, possibly close to 200m. I'd rather sign Griezmann for 100m if that is his buyout. Sanchez on a free is also an option for me. As are Coutinho, Lemar and Seri.

Griezmann would be my first choice as offers more that suits playing with Messi than Dybala in my opinion.

Sanchez wont come. Will get offered more money elsewhere and dont think he really would be that keen to come back as he has played his best football away from Barca with more freedom.
