Fabregas - partly success (he did not fit the system but still produced good numbers and was sold without a loss)

Mathieu - success (he was great for one season and was a key part of the team that won a treble)
Rakitic - partly success (was great in the second half of the treble season, and was cheap only 18 mil €, can still be sold for profit)
Douglas - failure (but he was not an experienced player)
Arda - failure
Vidal - partly failure (solid squad player)
Vermaelen - failure (failure only because of his injuries)
Zlatan - failure

You can count them if they are brought in as stand ins. A player ending up a squad player when you bought him for a first team starter is a failure

They can still be very bad transfers though. Expensive players who play a few games as a squad player and then leave on a free isnt exactly a success. Claiming that guys like Vidal are solid transfers is a bit rich.

Vidal wasnt even all that expensive for a squad player.

All clubs have transfers like that.

Go have a look how much money likes of City or Real have wasted on transfers or any top club.

Yes, but its not a success, regardless of who's fault it is. The guy has hardly even played and we will not recuperate any money for this dud.

Score some vital goals? We paid 70m to severely weaken our team. Horrendous transfer.

For the amount of money paid, how little Etoo was given up for then delaying Villa by a year.

Not a failure on Ibras part really as he did ok but failure by Pep to ask for a player like Ibra and then decide his playing style and personality didnt fit.

He is (or probably was) a great player and amazingly entertaining, but not close to the best ever and pretty fucking far off of being one the most successful ever.
