Barca Transfers and Rumors

Why are y'all hating on Paco? With a good team around him (read: not Verguenzia, sorry Valencia) he's easily Morata level.

Whoa. You mean he's on the same level as the best striker in Spain and quite possibly the planet itself? You're saying he has the ability, in just one pinky toe, to put our club so many points ahead of the Madrid clubs that we'll have the league secured by October? Do you mean to tell me that all this time, our key to winning the treble every season, for as long as you can think forward, was to bring Paco in and let him obtain this level?

I am shocked, and I do believe you may be overrating him a bit.

No hate. Just legitimate questions. He is a good player no doubt. However 30 million for a bench forward who's hardly a prolific goal scorer is questionable.

You guys need to take a look at the prices nowdays to realize 35m for a 22 years old Spanish international is not really much. Much worse players in EPL getting bought and sold in pretty much similar figures. A 29 years old Gonzalo Chokein moves to Juventus for 94m! Stop whining about everything. It is a very fair deal to me and Paco is a solid back up. He's not gonna be there just to add numbers.

As well as having quality on the bench, it brings healthy competition to the team, knowing there's no one to rival your position cannot be good mentally.. Unless you're messi. But having him should raise the level of Suarez, as should our new midfielders for Iniesta/Busi/Raki and Umtiti for our CBs etc..

I think most in here recognizes that he is a good player, but everybody wants Munir to break through and Barca to bet on the La Masia-product rather than buying (which is a very valid concern/point). Young players needs to be trusted even when they aren't consistent.
I'm in favour of this transfer, because many seems to forget that we aren't selling Munir for good, but testing him at another club to see if he is worth betting on. If we sold him without buyback to finance the Paco-deal, I would feel completely different. We have to be very careful in selecting the right fit, where he is guaranteed a decent amount of playing time, so he can develop. That matters way more than the fee we'll get (and a reasonable buyback ofc).

Asking us to buy Gomez instead of Paco is not very smart, imo. Paco has great potential and could turn out very good when he is moved away from chaos - he is young, spanish and already has a lot of experience in the league. If we should buy an old more experienced striker, then would could just as well have bought Nolito - the one Lucho desperately wanted since January, buying a different oldie would be kind of a slap in the face for him.

Only thing I like about Paco is that he's Spanish.

And if he's Morata level than idk... Morata is good at important games but he's not reliable as a goalscorer in the league.

The good thing of all this is that we suddenly have depth. Our team is suddenly stacked bar the rb position.
Only thing we lack is aerial danger and a plan b when msn cant score.
Still with paco and good rotation we should be able to put our best team on in April.

someone tell me a transfer this season that shows 30m for a 22yo international striker is 'too much'. heck we brought defenders for close to that amount. umtiti was 25m and he is the same as alcacer in terms of his value to his team, his international status and current ability before the transfer.

you mean in terms of quality right? because our rb position currently has 3 players. and i think vidal and roberto are good enough

Yes, our rb position will be our weak link in big games.
Midfield, cb and lb are stacked. Our attack is also upgraded with Paco and Arda if he keeps it up than with Munir and Sandro behind msn. Only gk is weaker but it shouldnt be a problem as long as Mats stays fit and its still miles better than the old Valdes/Pinto combo.
If we get Bellerin next season and maybe a Mario gomes type back up striker for a plak b we will be unstoppable.

Sandro left and without a buyback. Bellerin is wishful thinking, I am pleased with Roberto so far and personally feel signing Bellerin will undermine him. We won't need another striker if we have Alcacer, least of all a mario Gomez type as has been proved with Sandro, Ibra and many other, target men strikers don't work with us.
