MD running with it now.

Likely just typical International break BS by MD/Sport. But exchanging Vidal for Cancelo wouldn't even be a upgrade in the RB spot at least defensively wise. we will still be stuck with a back up who can't defend to save his life.

He's young and can improve but at this moment he really isn't that much better than Vidal when it comes to defending.

According to MD we are heavily interested in Lucas Hernandez (Atletico).

We were also interested in his Brother Theo as a LB option this summer but nothing came out of it.

Barca following Gelson

"The only thing I can say is that we are watching Gelson," Braida told Record. "He's a young player with a lot of talent who Barcelona are observing and will continue to observe. We have reports on various players and Gelson is one of them.

He's been playing rw for Valencia too. I'd prefer Bellerin to Cancelo.

Bellerin operation is extremely difficult to pull off and the player has given no indication he's interested in a return - which says nothing about the fee it would warrant

Cancelo is an upgrade over Vidal and is a natural defender compared to Aleix or Roberto. Plus, a cheaper option than going out into the market

I think he's worse than Vidal.

I don't want neither of them but Cancelo could possibly be available in January while Bellerin won't be. And we absolutely need someone in January as we can't count only on Roberto for whole season. I think geting Srna on a short-term contract (let's say 1,5 year) would be the best option for now. In the meantime Robert can search for younger options and we could possibly also buy someone next summer and let him develop/adapt here (though he probably wouldn't get much playing time if he'd be RB exclusively so not sure how smart that would be) or send him on loan for a season. That's if Lucho is not ready to give a chance to Nili or Palencia, which I don't think it's very likely. I think one of them (I'd rather see Palencia - who can possibly also cover LB if needed - but Lucho will probably prefer Nili) should at least be called up for some home games against easier opponents so he can sub him on in 2nd half if we have a good result. But knowing Lucho he'll start Nili in Anoeta and when he won't play good (with the rest of the team also being sh...) he'll decide that Nili is not good enough and will never call him up again.

I think he said some things about it the past summer. He'd be expensive, but Cancelo is like vidal, can't defend.

Cancelo doesn't solve the defensive problems Vidal has, so this really makes no sense. Srna would surely be a better option, as a stop gap.

Barçapocalypse NOW!
Why can't we actually look for a RB? Especially since we know hoe Vidal turned out, replacing him for Cancelo would be making the same mistake again...

According to Edu Polo, assuming Vidal ends up leaving the Club in January and we decide to not buy anyone in January we will use players like.

Nili

Palencia

and possibly Dani Morer (Juvenil A) as Alternatives to rest Roberto. I could see it happening if us getting Cancelo isn't possible until the summer.

They are good for giving rest to Roberto if Lucho will choose the right matches for that. But what if Roberto gets injured for a month or two and we'll have to play those inexperienced youngsters in El Clasico or important CL matches? I really think we should get a RB in January. And hopefully not Cancelo.
