Barca Transfers and Rumors

Barca needs help now, not in a couple years.

Felix doesn't have the goal pedigree of Jovic, Werner, Maxi or Pepe and is in a lower league. He is less ready I think. Transfermarket says CF is a secondary position for Pepe, is it out of the question he couldn't, particularly in Barca's system?

Rashford would be overpriced and I don't see him leaving England. Martial would probably be more realistic for Man U to let go if we wanted him.

I think Icardi is a bad fit, selfish game and locker-room spliter.

Jovic, Pepe, Werner, or Maxi--leaning for this order but would be happy with any of the 4 if the price is right and scouts pleased.

You think our interest in Saul N, is legit? 150m? Only way i could see that happen is Coutinho sold, but still we just bought de jong for 90m - its the offense which is lacking at this point.

No worries there .. Rakitic says he’s staying !

Ivan Rakitic has put to bed talk of him leaving Barcelona this summer and declared he “likes living in Spain”.

It appears the lure of Manchester has bypassed the Croatia midfielder after the 30-year-old claimed Barcelona are “perfect” for him and he is “happy” at the La Liga champions.

Rakitic is also understood to be on the radar of Inter Milan and only this week Marca claimed that United were planning a €75million summer swoop to sign him.

“I like living in Spain,” Rakitic said via DAZN. “Unfortunately, I can’t ask for another passport because I already have two, otherwise I’d also ask for a Spanish one because I’m fine here and I’m happy.

“My family are happy here too and my daughters are doing well in Barcelona because we’re close to Seville. Therefore, staying here is perfect for me.”

Yes and flanked by Dembele and Malcom

Neither of these players have the goal scoring rate (across all clubs and national team experiences) one would hope in a striker, though Demeble is a little better and is also very good in assists. I personally do not see as Messi, Dembele and Malcom as the starting forward line I want to see in Barca's future, though it doesn't mean Malcom can't contribute. Maybe I am wrong, maybe there is development to happen that brings new lethality to Malcom, but I certainly would not bet some of Messi's still best int he world years on it.

You know if we pass on Rabiot for a free or someone like Eriksen or Fabinho is available and we pass on them too, or if he stays and FDJ right away shows we are much better with him, Arthur and Busquets but EV (or another coach), but still plays Rakitic more, I'll join you and many others in bitching about it. For now I'd just let this season play out as transfers for immediate play are impossible and we have who we have. I do think it is smart to sign Rabiot for a free (assuming players like those other 2 are just not available under any reasonable circumstance), and sell Rakitic, and take the proceeds for the best CF or CF/winger. I really doubt he will stay if the club wants him to leave, says he has no role, and will not up/renew the contract. Even if they are already moving in this direction you would not say now, because again, we want who we have at present to play for the club and deal with such matters in the summer transfer window.

Gotta get rid of either Coutinho or Malcom, to better balance the squad, replace that spot for a viable rotation option for Suarez. Not Boatang quality, someone who can grow into a starter. Get backup for Alba, find a good enough replacement for Cillessen, who will surely leave. No one else is needed, the existing younger players will develope to be able to take larger roles.

Felix and MDL and that should be enough. We are going to need about 200m for just these two :worthy:

Since 2017/18

We spent about 577m and we got about 391m = - 186m/ 3 summers = 62m

We probably could up it to 75m each summer, which is reasonable. If we did that then we would have 39m for next summer.

39m + Gomes, D. Suarez and Rafinha, Rakitic, Vidal and Malcom.

Filipe Luís is a must, I think.

Whoever is more healthy

And who is more willing to take back up wages and a back up role.

I'd take either for a reasonable deal as I think there is less of a difference in the overall play than other do. Monreal has also played emergency CB for Arsenal and one would think Luis could as well.

thoughts?

He is a LW, which is a position that we need to reinforce.

Is it? Malcom is a talented player, managed to have some clutch moments like a goal in Milano or against Real.. and he bearly plays. In Barca, that's a position occupied by Messi, at least on paper. Second option being Dembele.

Hudson Odoi made a fuss about playing time in Chelsea (if I'm not mistaken); in Barca, he'd play less. Not saying he's not interesting or anything, but I wouldn't say a RW is a position to reinforce this summer.

Excellent points. Sorry I meant LW.

 you know, the second I pressed 'post' I remembered he was a LW. That is correct. That still leaves us with the second part - playing time. I don't think Suarez-Messi part's going to change which pushes Demeble on the left. Not to mention Coutinho, which makes things worse.
