Barcelona's most expensive signings

Tbh I think Milito was more of a "bad" than "good".

Nope. Milito was a fans favorite. A bad signing won't win the fans votes for sure. As Nolan said injuries were not kind to him at all, unless he was a solid defender for Barca except the last season.

What were the best and worst signings?

Look at numbers 19-23   Dreadful.

1. Zlatan Ibrahimovic - €69,500,000 - A signing surpassed only by that of Kaka to Madrid in its sheer catastrophic consequences 1/10
2. David Villa - €40,000,000 - Not a bad signing, but for that amount of money, we expect more 6/10
3. Marc Overmars - €40,000,000 - I was not following football extremely closely back then, but he did not deserve that amount of money, not by a very long shot. 3/10
4. Javier Saviola - €35,900,000 - Oh deary me... 2/10
5. Dani Alves - €35,500,000 - Worth every single cent 9/10
6. Ronaldinho - €32,250,000 - Not a signing, but a coup d' etat 10/10
7. Cesc Fabregas - €29,000,000 - Very early days, but my position on Cesc is well known on this forum (I guess) :mental:
8. Samuel Eto'o - €27,000,000 - The best number "9" we ever had. Should never have left. 9/10
9. Alexis Sanchez - €26,000,000 - Same as Cesc, too early to say. But looks promising indeed.
10. Dmytro Chygrynskiy - €25,000,000 - Yet another disastrous signing. We lost 10m on this guy, so that Sevilla could knock us out of the CDR 1/10
11. Thierry Henry - €24,000,000 - Played one season for us out of the 3 paying him, plus his fee was high, he is salvaged by the 2008/09 epic treble season. Never liked his attitude though. 5/10
12. Gerard - €24,000,000 - wtf? 2/10
13. Rivaldo, €23,500,000 - Not a bad signing. Not bad at all. 9/10
14. Deco - €21,000,000 - Extemely solid move. Should have lasted longer. 7/10
15. Geovanni - €21,000,000 - And the hits keep on coming 1/10
16. Javier Mascherano - €20,000,000 - Expected a bit more, but utility player for sure, and can improve for us. 6/10
17. Gabriel Milito - €20,000,000 - Unfortunate really 4/10
18. Patrick Kluivert - €20,000,000 - Very good, but not great. 7/10
19. Sonny Anderson - €18,000,000 - Not really, no. 4/10
20. Philippe Christanval - €17,000,000 - Nope, won't do. 2/10
21. Martin Caceres - €16,500,000 - Will this horror story ever end? 1/10
22. Alfonso - €16,500,000 - ?
23. Alexander Hleb - €15,000,000 - Yet another disaster 1/10
24. Eric Abidal - €15,000,000 - Had bad seasons (his first 2), and good seasons(his last 2) 7/10
25. Emmanuel Petit - €15,000,000 - Yet another disastrous transfer, Mark 253

Our transfer record seems awful. Is it our scouts?

He surely got the fans sympathy but that doesn't mean he was a "successful" signing. maybe phrasing it like this will make my point clearer; Milito was a GOOD signing (20m was always going to be a good deal for Zaragoza's Milito) but an unsuccessful one which, in my opinion, felt as if we lost more of the 20m paid for him than gained.

Sadly he was, but he was a good signing, just incredibly unlucky after his first season.

Mind you injuries are enough to make a signing bad (see Overmars), but unlike Overmars, Gabi wasn't overpriced and it wasn't something we could see coming (regardless of what Madrid fans say, he had a perfectly good track record until that one injury ruined his career).

Plus while Barca had a lot of issues during his one good season, both Puyol and Marquez suffered serious injuries that year so without him we'd have been fucked.

I think we both agree that it was a good deal, but an "unsuccessful" one due to injuries. he definitely had the quality to make it as a world class CB but didn't because of luck (unlike Chyg who was a complete disaster from start to finish).
