Playoffs without the Lakers are just wrong.

Looking forward to the Spurs-Clippers game later tonight if I can stay up this late.

They're glorious without the Lakers. Gonna be great to watch them bend over backwards trying to get Durant next summer. I hope they don't.

Haters gonna hate. Lakers and Celtics should take part in every playoff just for the history alone and the possibility of them playing against each other.

Durant won't happen although that would be amazing but we can also do with local boys such as Westbrook or Leonard.

No, Lakers are doomed at least until Kobe leaves in 2016.

Lakers are disgusting legacy abusers. Great organisation with some of the worst fans in the world. Would take a lot for them to become anywhere close to likeable. Celtics are much better for it, but I'd hate the prospect of either team being relevant again. There is plenty of other organisations with much better fans deserving better - Golden State, Portland, Toronto, Atlanta...

Durant won't stay, for sure, that's unless they sack that offensive amoeba of a coach on the bench. Don't know where he goes though. I'd love him to take over in Dallas. Leonard is class and Spurs are still not to be underestimated for a repeat.

"Legacy absuers". Explain. How are Lakers fans any different from RM fans or fans of other big sports teams? I don't equate franchises and their players with "fans" to begin with. I started following Lakers 10 years ago due to having relatives in California, Kobe, Shaq and the overall team performances back then. I have watched Lakers in action a few times as well. Since then it has sticked. It's not like Lakers have been overly successful in the past few seasons to put it mildly. All the bandwagon "fans" have probably left the sinking ship a LONG time ago.

I don't think that Lakers will be able to acquire any big profile. Leonard is indeed a class act. Likable dude too. That performance against the Heat last season will be remembered for a long time.

They probably aren't. I don't like many Madrid fans. The difference between me and the rest who would defend Ronaldo and the new crew to their deaths is that I was brought up watching the stars go at it individually. There was nothing as captivating as watching Zidane, Guti and Carlos kick people's asses while looking 4 classes above them. Not necessarily the best team, but it was so easy to idolize. These days it's about success and team more than creating a specific image. And that's across all sports. Was the same with Shaq, Jordan and them all. Curry and Harden are making other things trendy now too though.

I just hate the Lakers, because their fans always carried the sense of entitlement across the years and it's become a disease in the league. Everyone knows that one day Kuptchak will bring two disgruntled stars as a duo into that team to try and go for more titles and the wheel starts over again. It's kind of one thing I hate about RM too, but there are lights on the horizon if Jese and Morata work out and bring back a bit of identity to Madrid. James was an unnecessary signing as much as he is a beast. I loved Di Maria and I'm still a fan, but everyone's moved on I think. All this talk of De Gea is making me puke too. It's a bit different now though, because Perez has been building for the future for a while now signing Bale and James, and other young guns who just "wanted to play for Real Madrid all their life".

I could talk for hours about this, but Lakers are way more of a dominating brand in the US over the last 60 years than Real is in Europe. They've been winning nearly every decade since the 1960s. Guys are trying to make it in OKC and Houston has some credibility, but it's not happening for them. I just don't want them to cop out and the Lakers to hand them the opportunity, as much as I'd understand the players' decisions to go there.

I have to state once again that I don't equal a fan base with a club/team/franchise and their players. In my case I became a fan of the Lakers for the reasons I stated previously. Even if I wanted then I would not be able to switch allegiances and start supporting the Spurs for instance. Just like I don't imagine you being able to stop supporting RM. So whether Lakers has 100 millions fans or 10 million fans is irrelevant for me. I have been a fan for 10 + years during good and bad periods and I will remain a fan. I don't really care about the fan base as such as long as Staples Center is full whenever Lakers play.

Well, all of that is politics and part of the DNA of those 2 sports teams and many other top teams in any sport. I don't think that genuine fans who do not agree with everything that their clubs do (99,9% of us fans don't) will stop supporting their clubs for that reason.

Are you sure about that?

RM has won 10 CL titles in the span of 60 years. Lakers have won 11 titles in that same timespan.

Lakers won 0 titles during the 1960's, 1 during the 1970's, 5 during the 1980's, 0 during the 1990's and 5 during the 2000's.

At least franchises such as OKC and Houston have a genuine chance of winning the title. Can you say the same about 90% of all the clubs in La Liga, Serie A, Bundesliga, PL, Ligue 1 etc.? The answer is no.

Lakers are historically only second to the Celtics and are arguably the most famous franchise in the NBA. Of course that alone will make the franchise attractive for most top players. Even in this current sad state. Nothing strange about it. Just like Microsoft and Apple are more attractive for the average computer engineer than more unknown brands in the same field.

Somewhat agree with Wolfe. Lakers are essentially the Real Madrid of basketball. Huge fanbase, lots of attendees made up of mega-millionaire actors and singers, fans love to criticize their own players and even boo the hell out of them.

Just everything about the Lakers screams RM of NBA. I live in Southern California too so lots of mindless Lakers fans.

Spurs got dicked around by Clippers...

I highly doubt Clippers will win game 2 though. In my personal opinion, Clippers are huge underdogs in this series. Spurs had a crappy record because half of their players were injured during the first half of the season.

Thing is titles aren't the centerpiece of this whole thing. There were West/Chamberlain, then there was Showtime, then the Zen Master 1.0 and 2.0. Their fans are used to winning and know nothing of hardship, a bit like the British country, lol. I for one will be glad to see them try to climb out of the hole of nothingness Knicks-esque when Bryant retires. It's easier for them to do or to avoid it altogether, but I'll enjoy watching.

Poor Lillard man.. Spurs will come back from it. So long as Manu doesn't go full retard again.
