Puyol-Milito won't work simply because they are the same exact defender. Also, I hate to say this, but because of their stature, people like Llorente will beat them 9/10 times at headers.

I think the question which needs to be asked is who will Barca's next leader be?
We all know Puyol is on a decline in form and I think this will be his last season he will be in the starting 11. I also think that Xavi and Iniesta are a little lacking in the leadership area

Xavi is a leader. If you've noticed, the play revolves around him, and that takes a lot of stepping up to. He just is quiet outside the pitch.

Xavi should be our next captain but he is only a year, maybe two, younger than Puyol so he wouldn't be a long term solution. Messi and Iniesta and inspirational but maybe not the best leaders. Pique ?

I hope someone has already said this, but after last season, it should be who is partner to Pique, not who is partner to Puyol. Pique is untouchable.

Puyol and Ferdinand is a complete CB partnership. Same as Puol and Pique and in a few years Caceras (hopefully) and Pique.
