Both 2010 and 2012 were big disappointments because we dominated the rivals big time and simply failed to convert.

At least 2010 was against a very good Inter team and there was no Iniesta and that volcano ash travel issue.

To be ahead on aggregate and a man up at home to the 6th place PL team with 55 minutes left and not go through was a massive fail.

Yeah, it was. Valdes with a Stegen impersonating act, conceding 2/2 (the first goal was on him), and players missing clear-cut chances, including a penalty, failed us that night. Team was visibly declined on the defensive end though.

And Cech having monster performance as usual. As it was, we didn't have the luck to face keepers like Karius and Ulreich to give away goals like candy.

2012 CL run was a big disappointment. We had one of the easiest CL paths ever but weren?t that convincing vs Milan and then lost to a bum Chelsea team.

Yeah, we lost, but...
we battered them through and through both in the away leg, let alone in the return leg at Camp Nou.
We don't have xG data from the time, but I reckon some crazy numbers close to 10.0-12.0 xG over both legs for Barca.

It's a football miracle that that mediocre Chelsea side survived until the final counter-attack that Torres scored.

Disappointing not to qualify, but that team fully deserved it

With all due respect, I think there’s a little bit revisionist history here.

In 2012 we were clear favorites because we had won 3 consecutive La Ligas and 2 CLs in 3 years.

The 2010 team is considered close to elite because it was preceded and followed by UCL winning teams. I mean, if we had not won in 2011, maybe you would have a similar opinion about the 2010 team.

I think that after winning in spectacular fashion in 2015 and playing god like football for many months in a row, the world clearly saw us as the big favorites.

I think I base the judgement more on how Barcelona played and dominated than the titles they won. I say that Barcelona was clearly the best team in the world in 2012, 2013 and 2014 too, even though they lost big to Bayern in one of these years. And in 2010 they were also the best.
2016 maybe, and maybe even 2017 but I'd say they became more and more one team out of a bunch than the one team to beat by then.

Man you can make an argument for 2012 maybe, but Real won La Liga fairly easily and also reached the CL semis like us.

In 2013 we were killed by Bayern, we got hammered 7-0  I don't think anyone can make an argument for us that year... We were generally uninspiring, we barely knocked AC Milan and PSG out.

2014? That was like by far our worst year between 2008/09 and 2018/19 IMO. Definitely among the 2-3 worst seasons in this timespan. We lost La Liga to Atletico because we lost so many damn games against minor teams and even failed to beat them at the last game in Camp Nou. They also knocked us out in the CL. Many teams including Ateltico, Real Madrid, Bayern or even Chelsea, City and PSG had an argument over us that year.

Regardless of who won the CL, this is how I would rank us among the European elite the last 15 years or so:

2005/06: #1, at worst top 3
2006/07: top 5?
2007/08: top 10?
2008/09: undisputed #1
2009/10: maybe #1, definitely #2 at worst
2010/11: undisputed #1
2011/12: top 3
2012/13: top 3
2013/14: top 5
2014/15: undisputed #1
2015/16: top 3, maybe even #2 or even #1
2016/17: top 5
2017/18: top 5, maybe top 3
2018/19: top 5, maybe top 3
2019/20: top 10
2020/21: top 10
2021/22: :(

I'll have to admit I didn't read your entire OP, maybe we are talking about different things.
Maybe for a few months the Bayern with Robben and Ribery were regarded as better than Barcelona, the same with Madrid now and then, but that is it. I am pretty sure Barcelona were the clear favourites beforehand each of these years, and that is a better measure than who actually won. Never in anyones mind were Barcelona regarded as outside of the top four contenders for the CL inbetween 2009 and 2015.
They underperformed massively some years but was overall the best team in this period.

In 2012 Bayern in final would have been hard but with a rested peak Messi we would have been better though. We shouldnt forget 2018, imo it was one of the easiest to win.

We weren't beating Liverpool AND Real in 2018 with that team...

The easiest was probably 2019, had the team not collapsed in Anfield, we would face the mighty Spurs in the final

Real in 17/18 wasnt really strong, we had beaten them 0-3 and played 2-2 with one man less. Liverpool was strong but i wouldnt say we were much worse, maybe 55/45.

Yeah 2019 was really easy.

2010 the biggest disappointment.

We basically stumbled with the whole volcano shite and exchanging Eto'o for Ibra.

That should have been the first back to back CL win and first CL three-peat in history.

Congrats, bismp for the good poll.

Without a doubt for me the 2009/10 Barca were the best post-CL team we had. One game, just one game changed our season - the Guiseppe Meazza first leg in Milano. The team had to travel by bus for hours instead of taking a flight due to that volcano shit going on in Iceland. Also some complacency could be attributed as we had already beaten Inter in the group stage.

2010 followed closely by 2016, 2012 is distance third.
2016 would have been better if it wasn't for awful timed international break (with MSN, Bravo and Alves travelling to SA) and Messi deciding life is better playing centrally than on RW midway in the season.
Such wasted potential

I guess it's a good thing he decided to listen to the manager for those 10 months in 2015...
