Last year. They were the Cinderella team though. Just like Dortmund the year before.

Cinderella alright, but I rarely met anybody who genuinely liked Atletico. I mean, how can anybody like that bus-parking, aggressive, physical and dirty play style of theirs?

BVB, on the other hand, is a traditional German powerhouse with an established fanbase already, and they probably gained new fans because of their style of play in the last couple of years. So they weren't just being Cinderella.

Most of the Atleti bandwagoners never really *watched* them play though. They just looked at the results. Atleti play so dirty, that, unless you like footbrawl, it's hard to just pick up supporting them.

Atletico is not your average bus parking team. Simeone installed a pretty awesome and also variable pressing system that was the main reason for their strong defense last season. They tend to sit deeper vs better teams who have technically gifted players like us but in general Atletico is a team that have several different approaches.
Last year it was easier for Simeone to mix it up because he had better players though.

I've often wondered if a team I hated completely fell apart, would I still feel that dislike and take pleasure in their fall, or would that dislike dissipate and be replaced by pity.

Thanks for answering this for me, Dortmund, loving every moment :).

Though I admit I do feel bad for the fans. I really appreciate the loyalty they show their team. But it won't change me rooting for their relegation.

Maybe some of them just like Simeone. If you ask them how you knew Atletico, they will probably answer "I saw the team rise from mid table when Simeone came. They were never big tillnowimsuchabigfancantyouseegoddamnit". Same goes for Dortmund bandwagoners when they didn't realize most of the Dortmund fans are not from other parts of Germany, but the town of Dortmund itself. Most of them being blue collars found Dortmund to be part of their lives.

Great win, a confidence booster, the road back to the CL begins today in Freiburg.

I know it is only Freiburg, but this is the team that gave Bayern headache and run for its money. We saw a classic BVB today, fluid, decisive and clinical. On top of that, they were patient to build up play, instead of just blindly pushing forward in one direction that we saw in the last several games. Great performance, fully deserved win!

Echte Liebe! Letg's go BVB!

How was Gundogan? Saw Whoscored stats for him and looks like he had a good game.
