Sigh, the season is lost. BVB has quite a few very tough games ahead of them, both in the Buli and the CL, notwithstanding injuries (and injuries galore!). Meanwhile Bayern has come out unscathed. It is tough to imagine BVB catching up with them.

Bayern is the best team in the world. It would be a surprise if they don't win the season.
I hope and think Dortmund will end as 2nd or 3rd and that is great.
People should remember who is our enemy no.1. And that is NOT Bayern. I just want to win that Derby. pleaaaase.

1 point difference with 26 matches left to play including two direct competitions and you proclaim the season is over ? :D Chin up man.

I know, but consider the opponents they will be playing against in the next string of games: Hannover, Arsenal, Schalke, Stuttgart, Arsenal, Bayern, Wolfsburg, Napoli...

Meanwhile Bayern is facing minnows like Mainz, Viktoria Plzen, Hertha, Hoffenheim, Augsburg and CSKA...

Coupled with the injuries on some of their key players, BVB will definitely drop points in the Buli. :shakeshead:

That doesn't mean anything. Bayern usually suffer more against weaker sides, as those have more of a "nothing to lose" attitude - just compare the games against Schalke and Wolfsburg. BVB, on the other hand, usually don't give a damn about how strong the opponent is; when motivated, they can tear apart any strong team (I'll refrain from using any biblical similes here). The injuries and lack of rotation might be a problem, but we'll see how things turn out after the international break. Also, currently BVB > Hannover, Schalke, Stuttgart, Wolfsburg.

Judging from everyone's expectations for this season, Bayern should already have left Dortmund far behind with a clear 3+ point margin. Everyone was so sure Bayern would completely boss the whole league, showing Dortmund their place among the other small rebels like Schalke - frankly, this hasn't been the case at all. Things have been going better than expected, so there's no cause for pessimism. Dortmund had the best start into the season ever, not to mention they played some of their most beautiful football, whereas Bayern looked a bit uninspiring in quite a few games (despite winning them) (and no, this doesn't make them less of a favourite, but it's not all butterflies and flowers for them).

If I may point back to the 2011/12 season, Bayern, after 8 matches, had a 6 point advantage, and it was Dortmund to lift the double. Of course Bayern is much stronger, but so is Dortmund.

Now regarding the match against Mönchengladbach, the positive notion is that Dortmund completely bossed them. It was a mixture of bad luck, ter Stegen, stupidity and an unnecessary penalty that made them lose those points. Of course it's annoying, but thanks to Bayern drawing, there's not too much harm done at all. Not to mention that Dortmund play the right football to counter Bayern when they face each other.

Again the problem is (from BVB's perspective) Bayern's consistency. I agreed with you that some of the games that have played were quite uninspring and meh, nevertheless they won. It had more to do with their growing pains of adapting to and executing Guardiola's tactics than anything else I felt, and I think they are getting increasingly better at it lately. Their game against Leverkusen was kind of like BVB's game against Gladbach, completely dominating and wasted a lot of chances due to either the superb performance of the opposing goalkeeper or their own inability to finish. If they keep going like this, with their injured players like Götze, Martinez and Thiago returning, they will keep going and leave everyone else in the dust, I am afraid.

I know it is still very early to proclaim them the champions of the Buli 13/14 season, but the way I see it, unless they fumble disastrously, there is very little BVB and others can do. I hope I will be proven wrong. Beating them in the German clasico will be important.

I don't think we can use 11/12 as a yardstick since Schweinsteiger's severe injury completely changed their momentum. That's one of the reasons why I kept arguing Schweinsteiger is more important to them than Ribery. ;)
