So there now is a rumor which says BVB wants to sign Balotelli as Lewa replacement. Would certainly be an interesting turn of events and the propect of having such an oddball character coming to the Bundesliga certainly has some appeal.

This must be BS. Not even Kloppo is crazy enough, to sign Balotelli

Looks maybe 'Heavy Metal' football is taking it's toil on Dortmund.

That was always the case. Heavy metal football without squad depth would always lead to inconsistent performances because of fatigue. It's wrong to assume that they were better two years ago when they won the double though, that was just as much down to Bayern struggling. It's not as if the Dortmund team of 2011 would stand a chance against Bayern now, so I don't really understand the Dortmund-related pessimism. Of course they are losing players and struggling with injuries, but that whole talk of Dortmund as a sinking ship is wrong, imo. I stand by it, I think they will eventually be stronger and more stable in a few years time, similar to how Arsenal developed over the course of the last few seasons.

That's absolutely nonsense.Dortmund beat Bayern 5 games in a row, including 5-2 at the cup final. At the same time Bayern was in the champions league final.Bayern's champions league run last year has got to be the most overrated in the competition's history...yeah they were good, but they weren't even close to unbeatable. They played 3-3 overall with Arsenal in the 1/8,losing 0-2 at home and going further based on a archaic rule. The only impressive game they had was against a terrible, clueless Barca at home...in the rematch not even Messi was playing. They won an equal final by scoring in the 90'.Dortmund's beatdown of Madrid at home was just as impressive...the main issue for BVB was the inability to convert many, many clear cut chances into goals.People remember the final two minutes against Malaga but in the first game and in the second half of the second,Goetze and Reus had at least 10 chances and failed to score once.

Same thing in Madrid,Lewa and Gundogan missed chances that would have killed Madrid...as proven by the final,Bayern was better at converting chances.

Dortmund didn't lose a single game in the season 2011/12 after matchday 6.Yes,they went undefeated from October to May,beating Bayern,Schalke and BMG twice each. They were 6-0 against the second, third and fourth of the table.

Last year Bayern drew both times against Dortmund in the Bundesliga.

Wouldn't stand a chance?Well they destroyed Bayern 4-2 in the supercup,like,5 months ago...and they were the better team in the bundesliga match for about 60 minutes even though they were playing without 5-6 starters and basically the whole defense, which of course Bayern took advantage later on.

I disagree with everything you just said. It's very obvious that you have watched almost none of the matches you were talking about.
And ffs, Arsenal fans, please stop overrating that win at Allianz Arena. It's really getting embarrassing.

I didn't talk about individual/isolated matches, but the long run. Dortmund on their day could still beat Bayern (and most other teams) today, but not keep up with them over the course of a full season because they lack the depth that Bayern have. Especially for Dortmund with their high-tempo exhausting style, they need depth to avoid inconsistent performance due to fatigue.

Look, Dortmund won the 2012 season with 81 points. Last year, Bayern won the title with 91 points, and if they continue at their current rate, they will get around 93 points or more this season. Dortmund would need to perform significantly better than they did in 2012 to beat Bayern to the title. I wasn't downgrading Dortmund's achievements, far from it, I like Dortmund a lot, I'm just saying that this gloomy mood around BVB is uncalled for since they didn't significantly deterioriate. The difference is that Bayern significantly improved.

Klopp-Dortmund have been and still are very strong, but they need to evolve (financially and depth-wise) to be able to keep up with Bayern over the course of a full season. Which, as I said, I think they are working on with consistent CL qualification and minimal spending. Losing Götze and Lewandowski to Bayern is a blow, of course, but then they've always lost player and managed to get out of it and, as I said, losing your best players is a fate you simply will have to endure on your way to becoming a top, top club - just look at Arsenal and their situation in 2010 and now in 2013/4. (By which I'm not defending Bayern/Hoeness and their raiding)

Now,that's a different thing and there i agree with you.Of course a team like Bayern that has 20 players that could be starters and buys 2 world class players every year, will be better in a season long competition like the Bundesliga.

But Dortmund in 2011/12 was just as dominant as Bayern was last year...the difference in points total was due to the awful start Dortmund had in the beginning of the season when Gundogan wasn't acclimatized to the team and struggled to replace Sahin. They went out of the champions league and had 3 losses and 1 draw in the first 6 games in the bundesliga.Like i've said, sure Bayern had more points last year, but they didn't beat Dortmund yet BVB beat them 4 times in the 2010/11-2011/12 seasons when they won the bundes + the cup final.

The trouble with Dortmund is that every year they sell an incredibly important player and each season they have to re-adjust their style, passing, etc because they don't buy the same players as replacements...it happened with Sahin/Gundogan,last year with Kagawa/Reus and this again with Goetze/Miki.

Imagine Barca in selling Xavi in 2009,then Iniesta in 2010 and finally Messi/Puyol to Real.

Had players like Kagawa been more thoughtful,BVB would have been a top 3 team in Europe for a decade...everyone was young, amazing chemistry, great defensively, offensively you name it.

Piszczek/Hummels/Subotic/Schmelzer/Gundogan/Bender/Kagawa/Reus/Goetze/Lewandovski?

As good a squad and complete a starting 11 as you can have.

But it is what it is,until there's some kind of a salary cap like in the NBA,teams like Bayern,Real,Barca.City can spend any amount of money they want and teams like Valencia,BVB and Arsenal will only serve as incubators for those clubs.
