Breaking news! Gavi set to LEAVE Barcelona

Gavi needs mentoring at this age. Barca is by far his single opportunity to be a starter and gain experience. A transfer to Liverpool, PSG or City will bring one thing - more money and mostly bench time for the foreseeable future. He is not what he think he is, yet - world class.

Why would he be benched when both managers dont shy away from giving youth a fair amount of game time and often trust them in bigger fixtures?
Klopp has midfielders that are either unremarkable (Keita) or ageing (Hendo, Milner leaving(?), Thiago has/had injuries).

There's no certainty to it being a worse move and could go either way.
If gets on with Xavi less well then can understand he could prefer to go and earn more in the process too.

Can't remember how old Pique was when left, 18? Similar for Fabregas IIRC
Could well come back after having had that experience easy

He lacks the big experience, that's why. Too early by far, FFS he is 17! To value himself as the franchise player (to use American term) because of few call-ups by Lucho... At his age Messi was still bouncing back between senior and B squad.

I value his energy and fighting spirit out of all, also showing his affection for the club badge on shirt during celebrations few times. Hope he stays.

Pique, Fabregas and others who left during the Ronaldinho era were neglected by Rijkaard and his staff. Gavi is in a different situation, he already has this wonderkid status, meanwhile Pique and Cesc were nobodies when they left Barca.

No... Pique and Fabregas made the decision to leave when they were 15/16 and nothing to do with being neglected by Rijkaard.

Pique clearly stating that the club didn't trust its youth players. At least they felt that way at the time.

Yes he said the club at that time did not have a lot of young players in first team... not that Rijkaard was neglecting 15/16 year olds in him and Fabregas.

What he is saying is that there was not as clear a path to first team not that he and Cesc were being ignored by Rijkaard.

He is making excuses anyway as left for money and promises of first team but Cesc and Pique were too young to be called up by Rijkaard that is not the point he is making.

Cesc literally left just after Laporta was voted in as president, a few weeks after the U17 World Cup.

Pique a year later.

That's why I added the line "Rijkaard and his staff". We don't know exactly who let these guys go, but I'm far from the idea Rijkaard was clueless what was going on at La Masia. Nonetheless he's the guy who gave Messi his first team introduction.

Anyway you can always imply everyone leaving in that era for being a greedy kid, argument which always holds water.

We know with Cesc as he was gone before Rijkaard even arrived and Pique had agreed to sign for Man U when just turned 17 and nowhere near being in Rikaards thoughts let alone neglected.

Pque in that interview makes out as if when he left Iniesta and Xavi were struggling to get matches.. Xavi had over 150 appearances and had been Spain international for four years.
