They peaked during a great time to rack up CLs. There's really no teams able to challenge them...Pool without VVD is no match.

What a chance. This is the weakness of Bayern. They give out a lot of chances. The problem is they score a lot too, so they get away with that because the other teams don't finish them well enough.

For example, this was more of a 5-5 game . Bayern wins because they took their chances better, not because they dominated Dortmund and blocked them.

Exactly. Bayern defense has never been something to write home about.

Nah offside definitely.

I know, but the recipe of Bayern works because there are few if any teams with as much offensive power as them, and also few teams like Inter or Chelsea back in the late 00's who defend very well and are clinical up top.

They play somehow like a more exposed MSN Barca. Because our strikeforce was more individual skill based, and Bayern's is more tactical, meaning they commit really a lot of men forward which leaves their defense very exposed and the spaces very big.

Well yeah they do, but remember also that high line is also the fundament of their pressing approach. You can get away with a few long balls behind the defense and hope your striker gets there before Neuer, but how often do you loose the ball in your own half in the progress of trying that?

Funny thing is, MSN was so dominant in 14-15 as a creative attacking force that the midfield shielded the defense really, really well.

We conceded only 37 goals in 60 games that season across CL, LL, and Copa which is statistically up there with the likes of Prime Milan or Prime Chelsea. All this while scoring 175 goals which blows those 2 sides out of the water.

But their pressing approach isn't working very well is it, if the other teams create loads of chances? I mean the purpose of tactics is to score goals and block to other team from doing the same, and Bayern are getting away with doing their job poorly in defense, because the state of the other teams is poor.

Yeah. We had insane offensive power with few weaknesses in defense. But Bayern's approach is more durable and sustainable. We only kept playing at a superhigh level with MSN for 10-12 months.
