I'm also fond of St. Pauli. I used to think Barca could be similar. Some time ago.
Never been to Dusseldorf either. I usually go to Munich (quite often). One of the reasons I don't hate Bayern that much
Thanks for the advice!
We are definitely not as out-in-the-open as St.Pauli and despite the fact that elements of the Boixos Nois had right-wing connections, I still think we are much more of a left-wing club (the club, not necessarily the ultras) since a large part of our history was about being anti-fascist Madrid and anti-Franco. Traditionally Barcalona was a bastion of left-wing socialists, communists and progressives. And believe it or not, even many socialist countries did not practice such and ended up put their feet into their own mouth, left-wing -isms traditionally supported and encouraged self-determination (in the context of Catalan independence). But yeah, since we have grown so big and become so commercialized and internationalized, we can't openly espouse/support one sets of values for fear of turning off potential fans and supporters. I completely understand.
I like the city of Munich but not Bayern and I have been there many times too. I particularly enjoyed the Oberbayern region (Berchtesgaden, Oberammergau, Linderhof etc.). Düsseldorf itself is kind of blend and not much to see, but it is a great connection point if you want to catch some great Bundesliga games since there are so many teams within 80 km or so from Düsseldorf (Dortmund, Schalke, Gladbach, Leverkusen, Cologne, Duisburg, Bochum) and there are lot of international flights out of Düsseldorf airport.
Enjoy if you are in that area next time!
