Bartra for CB, Mascherano for DM.
It is not that difficult.

That formation will get torn apart by any good team---Neymar-----Suarez---------Messi
---Iniesta-----------------------Rakitic
-----------Xavi----------Mascherano--
---Mathieu--------Piqué----------Alves
------------------Bravo-----------------
That would, of course, imply using different tactics : something similar to what Guardiola does at Bayern Munich.
( And for the Xavi skeptics ( and also haters) he wouldn't play as a DM like Mascherano, so don't worry, he will not suffocate at the 30th minute...)

Watch Bayern Munich.
Watch Bayern Munich.
We are not Bayern.
Seems slightly drastic to completely overhaul our formation just because Busi is injured for a couple of weeks. Would be stupid to do so at this crucial stage of the season.

Exactly. Mascherano can cover for Busi, so this change in formation isn't needed.
Busquets , to me, is Barca's most important player in terms of tactics. Mascherano nor Rakitic can replace him. As far as I know, adjustments made under necessity never come from bad intentions.
Mascherano is less organized and is technically inferior to Busquets. He can however be a temporary solution
Mascherano is one of the best DMs in the world. He will slot in just fine with this more direct game as he showed when Busi came off. He also is reasonably technically gifted as is shown by his assist to Suarez.
The formation you suggested is an overhaul of our tactics not an adjustment.
Less organized? Not at all. He is technically inferior though and a bit slower at distributing, but he is better at tackling and stopping counter attacks. Plus he doesn't do stupid dribbles in defence.
A temporary solution is what he'll be.
You've got a point with the stupid dribbles.
Less organized? Yes definitely, Busquets doesn't put in as much effort to recover the ball
