For me, ambiance is key and that won’t be affected by updating
Structurally, the exterior currently is only ok but within the stadium the optics are excellent. A partial roof will help with inclement weather but could impact the optics of an open air feel - I can only assume this has already been assessed up front in design by Nekken Sekkei
The first tier structure of the stadium will not change but the underground corridors will be removed and access improved. A new third tier is planned to improve accessibility and comfort, along with a double VIP ring between the second and third tiers.
A new semi transparent (membrane) roof will incorporate elements to boost sustainability, such as a geothermal system and a district heating and cooling system. It will be covered with 30,000m² of solar panels to generate photovoltaic energy. One of the priorities of the new project is sustainability, with the aim to provide more spaces for electric cars and more solutions for sustainable mobility.
There will be a screen circling the entire stadium so that should be cool for AV aesthetics that were lacking. The stadium will be symmetrical and modernized with the latter sorely overdue.
