Happy with that game. Managed to break down an Atletico bus which we couldn't do last season so that's a real positive. Atletico will have to attack more in the next leg so hopefully that will open them up.
Yeah, hoping for a riot when Atleti open up next time.

I've read the word "bus" 5-6 times already.
Those of you who've said it, didn't you notice Atleti pressing our back line whenever they possibly could?

Also, what's with "we're gonna have to raise the game vs. tougher teams"?
What are those "tougher teams", may I ask?
Some epl clubs with bigger names?
Sure, keep on buying into english bias

Exactly, Atletico has parked the bus in the second leg with RM, yesterday they were pressing and fouling Barca players all over the pitch. And have you noticed something else? We were playing physical aggressive football as well - lots of fouls and clumsy challenges (AM had 12 fouls and we had 11). I think it's positive thing because we haven't conceded.

Sloppy. Unconvincing.

Again, this isn't last year's atletico's. Them losing Costa, Filipe and Courtois were massive blows to this team, particularly Courtois and Luis. I see this as more of them getting weaker and tired overall than us getting stronger. Sure the defense looks better but of course it will when both of the fullbacks don't overlap. Other than that, we had a midfield that didn't create much of anything other than Rakitic's pass to Suarez. It's nothing coordinated, we score opportunistic goals against the run of play at times or it's Messi pulling a rabbit out of a hat. That's not going to cut it against better teams.

All I'm saying is this team should be playing a lot better and scoring goals a lot easier than they are now. Suarez looked frustrated tonight, Iniesta continues to struggle and Rakitic is still adapting.

And can someone other than Messi start taking penalties? He kinda has a habit of choking with high pressure penalties...

I think you're underestimating Atletico a lot. Sure they might be weaker in terms of players and their roster, but they performed well against RM the last couple of weeks, and I don't think they are playing worse than last season.

I also think that we have massively improved after the new year, and I can't believe you're expecting us to score with ease against one of the best defenses in Europe in atletico. It feels like you're overblowing small errors and letting them speak for the performance as a whole, even though most people would agree that the positives have largely outweighed the negatives in the last matches, and that it's because we're actually getting stronger, not the opponents getting weaker, (as opposed to what you're saying), that we're winning

They had 10 men behind the ball pretty much all the time. They didn't test MAtS once in the whole game. It was a bus.

What is it then? Passionate defending?

Agreed on the second point though.

That was during a setpiece
You expect them to defend a set piece with two men to please you?
Well, my bad, but it doesn't change the fact that it was always 10 men behind the ball in a 4-4-2. Anyone who watched the game should have no doubts it was a fucking airbus.

My point stands.

Yeah, go watch the game again instead posting few screenshots.
It's everything about where the ball is located. They pressed us high up the pitch when we tried to build and also caved back when we managed to get through. It's called cohesive defending. Limiting space for opponents wherever the ball is.
If you can't make a distinction between what Cholo instilled in Atleti and generic "bus" phrasing do watch some more football.

I liked how we controlled the match, but the attacking trio is completely out of sync, when pressure is applied to them (and sometimes even without it). So many half arsed passes, misunderstandings and out of sync runs. Attacking trident would be devastating alone, without any midfield needed if that wasn't so bad with this. The best example of this mutual misunderstanding was, when in 2cd half Messi cut in from the left and made a through ball right through the middle, where no Atleti defenders were to be seen, it was open goal for ******, but both Naymar and Suarez (or was it someone else) made completely wrong run right across the Messi's red carpet ball, while interfering with each other no less. Complete lack of vision from our new forwards still. No matter how bad is Pedro, but at least i know he would be perfectly aligned into path of that ball if he was there. Some people just find it hard to learn Barca ways, let alone improve it to the level of automatism like many La Masia players have learned even though they may be technically inferior.

Eh, it's called cohesive defending now? They did not create any danger on our half and sat back the entire game. All they wanted was not to concede, it was their main task. That's a bus.
