I can't help but think we should start playing defensive and counter attacking football. We have the right players too. Play Masch and Busi/Rakitic as double pivot. Messi as CAM. Suarez and Neymar upfront. 3 center backs and 2 wing backs. We are not able to control the game even with xavi and 4-3-3 formation. Why not just play defensive football and release counter attacks. It suits neymar and suarez more and whenever we try to build up messi will come into picture. He is also good in counter attacking too. We play both possession and counter attacking. We shouldn't just recycle possession and play sideways, we have to play with urgency.

This might be a big problem against parked teams (or not depend on neymar messi and suarez really) and this makes it hard to win the league but in CL and Copa these tactics will work. We will have the unpredictability lucho has been dreaming about. We played something similar in psg home match i think. That formation felt uncomfortable but with some little changes in formation and some match practice might just make it work.

Until proper reinforcements in midfield and defense we should just try to be more defensive. Barca were playing defensively until real madrid match i don't know what happened during that match but from then on we looked more vulnerable than ever. We were conservative against psg at home too. I think we should play more like that to win matches. I don't care how we play anymore, i know lucho does not have the talent to play good football. So why not play so that we can win matches instead to clinging to our philosophies. We are playing bad like that and we are not getting the results too.

I think it can be achieved with some motivation and confidence instilled in players. But i don't see lucho doing that but he should try at least. CL might be the most toughest competition but it is also the best trophy to target. Dortmund reached final of CL by neglecting league. Real also slightly gave up on liga for their la decima. Even Chelsea tried to do the same thing but Atletico wanted the trophy more. Not saying we should give up on liga completely but we should concentrate on cl more if we can't gain the consistency needed to win the league.

It is not like we have have worst squad in europe too. We are still in top 5 or 6 imo, so with some luck and proper defensive tactics we might reach the final. Argentina in the world cup was a good example. They had a stellar attack but still they played defensively and reached the final, same case with barca right now. The problem is we have too much pride to play like that, i think that is a big problem. We are not winning matches/trophies or playing good football. We should at least have the pleasure of one of those things.

About not having good defenders to establish that style i don't think that is true exactly. Many average defenders look like goats in a conservative style when they have good defensive mid like masch. Mathieu Bartra and Pique as the 3 center backs would be good. We don't need to play like every match but we should at least try it in some matches and see how it goes. One or two matches is not enough.

And we used it in a home against elche in a fucking copa match. Not against sociedad away and i am pretty sure our squad against atletico will be weaker than this.
