I have been to Parkhead and I have to admit the atmosphere is great. I never got to sing You'll Never Walk Alone we didn't arrive in time, right at the start, 1st minute but was impressed. I was in the Jock Stein stand which had a great view, great seats but the stairs were almost vertical, unbelievably surreal.

unfortunatley the difference between european nights and regular spl games at celtic park is like day and night

sad passing of former celt

Newsroom Staff
EVERYONE at Celtic Football Club is deeply saddened by the news of the sudden passing of former player, Brian McLaughlin.

The talented midfielder, who made a total of 20 appearances between 1971 and 1977, has passed away at the age of 54.

Regarded by his peers as one of the finest players to emerge from the youth system, Brian made his debut at just 16 years of age in September 1971 for a League Cup quarter-final against Clydebank. Celtic won the home match 6-2.

His enormous potential was further highlighted in a Drybrough Cup win over Dundee, when he scored a stunning goal in the 4-0 victory.

He continued to make progress under the manager until a horrendous knee injury, inflicted by a bad tackle in a game against Clyde on September 8, 1973 effectively finished his career at the highest level.

Brian did score in Celtic’s 5-0 win over Jeunesse D’Esch in the European Cup in September 1977, but after leaving the club that year he went on to enjoy a successful career with Ayr United, where he was named Division One Player of the Year in 1979.

He went on to play for Motherwell, Hamilton Academical and hometown club, Falkirk, before a brief spell in Australia and then returning to Scotland and St Mirren as a coach.

The thoughts and prayers of everyone at Celtic are with Brian’s family and friends at this extremely sad time.

21.04 Celtic chief executive Peter Lawwell has confirmed manager Tony Mowbray can dip into the transfer market again before the window closes.

Celtic chief executive Peter Lawwell has confirmed manager Tony Mowbray can dip into the transfer market again before the window closes.

Mowbray has brought in Landry N'Guemo, Marc-Antoine Fortune, Danny Fox and Josh Thompson since taking charge at Parkhead earlier in the summer.

He has now been given the green light to make further signings over the next fortnight following the release of the club's preliminary financial results.

The results, up until 30th June of this year, showed that bank debt was reduced to £1.51million net of cash, from £3.52million in 2009.

Although profit before taxation was £2million, down from £4.44million last year, Lawwell says money is available for Mowbray to further bolster his squad.

"Our figures are very satisfactory and credible in these tough times," Lawwell said.

"It gives us a good foundation for us to go forward.

"We spent £8.5million last year and we have spent £4.5million this year and in the context of Scotland, that takes us ahead of the other teams.

"I wouldn't discount more signings before the transfer window closes.

"We have a lot of players in the squad and maybe one or two would have to go, but that would not be necessary.

"We just need to wait and see."

If Carlsberg did forum members
Kris Commons would be great replacement for Nakamura. Maybe another striker but that's it really.
