Chadi Riad

Probably an Emerson type of deal, so we want to cash on him immediately, or we we are ready to make a sale in defence to reinforce midfield

Possibly. I'd argue he would have a higher pricetag with another full season though.

This isn't a case like Abde where Osasuna masked his glaring weaknesses, but a very high potential CB.

But I do think we are putting the breaks on him coming back as clearly he won't start much.

Maybe we loan him back to Betis saying all this next season though?

Having a very good season with betis, what are we doing to do with all these CB.

Good problem to have though.

There were some reports we'll bring him back to sell him but think this is BS or just lazy reporting.

1. IIRC we can't use buy back before 2025 and
2. AFAIK La Liga now doesn't allow to buy a player and then sell him in the same TW. Might be wrong about that. Could ofc go around that rule with a loan+obligation to buy but that wouldn't bring us money immediately.

In any case another season at Betis will do wonders for both him and ourselves.

He's the closest profile we control to Araujo. So if we somehow sell him, it is well worth watching his development.

Looks like Betis will sell him to CP...

The operation is not signed, but there is a principle of agreement between the parties. In this way, Real Betis will exercise the purchase option, valued at 3 million euros, and carry out the transfer to Crystal Palace in exchange for 15 million pounds (almost 18 million euros) and a series of bonuses.

Logically, Barça will receive the aforementioned 3 million and, in addition, 50 percent of the operation with the English club. An income that for the club, given its delicate economic situation, will be an excellent lifeline for the summer transfer market.

We should really consider bringing him back if our plan is to sell Araujo imo but probably too soon (in transfer window) for that. OTOH Betis probably need to sell before June 30 to balance the books for this season.

Anyway, getting 10m+ for Chadi is not a bad business.

We should bring him back, then loan him out again, let his value bill even more.

Not sure Chadi would accept that. Players usually don't want to be used like that. If we would bring him back he would want to compete for his minutes here. Which he's more than good enough for but we just have quite a logjam at CB right now.

And AFAIK our buy back is also only valid from 2025 so if Betis wants to sell him now there is nothing we can do.

So how much are Betis even making from this deal? 5m? after signing from us?

yes, but that's not bad for a one year rental

They pay us 3M
18M - 3M that is 15M profit. Then we get 50% of those. It is 7.5M profit.
From a player they have never really owned.
Either that or get 4M profit next year.

Palace will sell him for 50m+ in 2-3 seasons.

Which is good for them, being an EPL midtable team allows you to show talents in the richest league in the world, with "EPL proven tag".
So, it will be well earned by them then, as neither us or Betis can turn him into 50M player, unless he becomes a starter here.
