Champions League 2016/17

DonAK

President of FC Barcelona
This is going to be a dirty, cynical game with Chiellini, Barzagli and Khedira being the perpetrators.

Haha it is like they handpicked that draw to blow BBZ theories out the water.

Briliant draw for Barca!

They kicked my theory, but also every single person's who claimed that Uefa is protecting Real.

I wouldn't dismiss BBZ observations.
Maybe Uefa finally did a legit draw.

Thanks.
Even though, I could still "sell" a theory that Uefa wants big teams to interchange on top.
To some extent, Uefa did "protect" us also 5-10 years ago with easier draws.
When we won "too much" we started to get tougher draws, and our main opponents, Real and Bayern were protected with monkey-easy draws in the last 5 years.

Since Real won 2 CLs in 3 years, it is still possible that Uefa is now tired of Real (they don't want the same team to rule over and over, that is not good for viewers), so Uefa wouldn't mind Barca or Bayern winning it this year.
Also, if this is true, it is quite easy that Real would get tougher draws in upcoming seasons.

On the other hand there are also possibilities:
1. that a draw is completely rigged all the time
2. that a draw is completely random ALL the time, and that it is just a pure luck/bad luck
3. but there is a chance that Uefa only "intervenes" from time to time (for example: in some seasons they don't have favorites and they just let teams play and they are allowing random draw. But when one team starts to be too big and too annoying, like Barca 5 years ago or RM in the last 3 years, then Uefa could "intervene" and rig a draw.)

It could all be a huge coincidence, but regarding Real:
1. they were getting easy draws for 5 years in a row, in moments when Barca was dominating the world, and when the world needed someone to "stop" Barca
2. now when Barca is done or on a decline and when Real suddenly won 2 Cls in 3 years, we see a tough draw for RM for the first time in the 5 or 10 years (they were getting Lyon, Lyon, Lyon, Roma, Roma, Schalke, Schalke for years in a row and often getting knocked out)

So, it could all be a pure random and good/bad luck.
Or a draw is sometimes totally random, but in some moments (in certain years, usually in quarters and semis), some teams are pushed for a reason (to stop another team who was winning too much) and top teams are "stopped" with tough draws.

About Real, if Uefa wants a new champion and a different final this season (than AM-Barca), is there a tougher draw for Real (except drawing them with Barca)?
Bayern is traditionally a team who has done insane damage over and over to Real.
Especially now when Bayern is not coached by Pep, imo it is 60:40 for Bayern to get through.

About our draw, to some extent, maybe it is a good thing that we didn't get Leicester or Monaco because our team could have been complacent.
I am quite confident that we will go into semis.
And that RM won't be there.

Trivia - Allegri won 1 game against Barca and lost 5 times.

Not really that relevant. Emery had a horrendous record against Barca too but if it weren't for a miracle he would have eliminated us.

Allegri has them very organized as Juventus have only conceded 2 goals in the CL this season, which is concerning. Although they haven't really faced a world class offense (or even a single world class forward for that matter). Barca could be a shellshock for them in that sense.

I'm pretty confident about the draw I think we will go through.

Real vs Bayern is 4:3 in total in knockout rounds in history.

Real won in 2000, 2002, 2004 and 2014.
Bayern won in 2001, 2007 and 2012.

If we "forget" Pep's Bayern when Bayern tried to play like Barcelona, Bayern did knock out Real on the last 2 occasions before that, when they played like Germans, in 2007 and 2012.

Great draw, amazing matches coming on. I'm looking forward to Bayern demolishing Real on both legs. Ancelotti knows Real very well and will be able to expose all of Real's weak point. I don't give Real a lot of chances on advancing through the semi finals. They finally get an equally strong opponent.
As far as our tie is concerned, I'm not afraid of Juve. If we managed to come back from a 4:0 deficit with conceding an away goal from PSG, then nothing can stop us really this season. This comeback was meant to be, this team is meant to achieve great things in this season. It wasn't for nothing for sure. Great CL so far.

I have memories from 2003 UCL 1/4finals. But we were very bad those days, and Juve eliminate us after extra time...
1:1 in Torino, then 1:2 at Camp Nou after ET.

That was a crappy Barca without Rivaldo, without any leaders, without experience how to win in a CL and without any mental strength.

It was 1:1 and 1:1 and we lost at Camp Nou in extra time even though we had 11:10 men:

That was a classic Barca from early 00s.
This team is on majority occasions (except matches against AM, AM and PSG) way, way different.

This tie is not as good as it looks! I d give Juve the edge in term of motivation cuz of their lost to Barca in the 2015 CL final! They ll probably fight like crazy n play with 200% capacity! A draw with away goals like 2-2 d be a nice result in the first leg!

Real are going out of this competition lol. I'm more confident of Real going out of it than Atleti going through to the next round. :p

Real are going to go up against a footballing machine lead by a world class manager who will definitely be motivated to bring down his former club who he also knows very well.

The thing with Madrid this season is that even though they have played pretty awful football this season, they have shown a great fighting spirit and bullied their opposition into defeat.

Now they are going up against a team that they wont be able to bully and can match them for world class quality.

Interestingly, Ramos is also one card away from suspension. If he picks up a yellow during the onslaught that tends to happens to every team at the Allianz he will be out for Bernabeu.

Zidane is going to get his first dose of reality in this tie. It will be brutal.

Devils, I completely agree with you. Reality check is coming for Zidane's squad. It will be rough for them. Ancelotti has the perfect antidote to counter Real's style of play. He is the specialist for knockout rounds. He knows them really well. Real won't be able to rely on crosses and headers because Bayern have a great defenders that are good in heading. Bayern will expose every Real's weak point. I can't wait for the matches. It will be a pleasure to see Bayern demolishing them.

it would seem the board of past Euro, divided by 2 ..... if it wasn't for the fact there will be further draw after 1/4s

I think rm will get through. Too many people thinking they will be demolished.
