It's not that they opened up huge spaces at the back for counter

Bayern had Musiala Sane and Coman working wonderfully to run through in tight spaces with the ball.
At Madrid only Vinicius can do that

City will seek to dominate possession and Madrid will hit them on counters like they did to us.

Musiala didn't do well at all yesterday, neither did Coman.

Not sure at all about that

39% possession against ARsenal when they won 1-3
46% or so possession yesterday

Maybe City learned their lesson vs. Madrid after the last year's debalce and this time I reckon they'll play the return leg at home not on Bernabeu, that alone might just be the game changer for the outcome of the tie. Moreover, now they have Haaland whilst Benzema's form is nowhere near what it was a year ago.
And better be so cause otherwise there will be another win in CL for Madrid.

As for tongiht I won't waste my time watching Madrid - Chelsea, I might take a look at Milan - Napoli.

City is not the team people think they are
They are stuck with the image of the previous Pep teams and the previous iteration of City from 2017 - 2020.
City has changed since 2020, and the last 3 seasons play the same thing in CL:
trying to absolutely control the game and the defensive shape instead of overwhelming the opponent in attacking and leaving gaps at the back for counter.
In that mode, they are a real force in CL: In three seasons they have a F, a SF, and now again a SF or possibly final again. They shot themselves in the foot in the 2021 final with Pep overthinking, and last season never lost the tactical battle to RM.

It's a mistake to conflate these two periods

City also look to be peaking at the right time. Favourites for the CL right now for sure.

If Chelsea somehow miraculously get past Real Madrid, then might as well hand City the title. Ain't no way Chelsea or one of Italian teams will stop City.

The mighty Bayern have made 1 CL final since 2013...that too in the COVID season...despite being gassed up all the time

Their squad is full of average to good and only a couple of elite (Kimmich Neuer maybe Muller ) players

Bayern are always in the QF stage usually though pretty much the only guarantee after Madrid and City now, one of the few teams who always make it there. Getting over the line for them is another thing but they’ve made the European Cup final on quite a few occasions in their history.

City post 2016 are the same, always in the latter stages, kinda replaced Barca in that aspect as we made the semis like 7 years on the bounce.

That's the best part, they have such a hard on for the CL & fail time & time again, lol.

But they do kick our asses season after season though lol, so there is that.
