If Bayern knocks out Madrid tonight it will be the biggest upset for Madrid since I can't remember when. Maybe the 4-1 vs BVB or the Ajax KO at Bernabeu.
Not really. Well...would depend on the score. If bayern did it with 4-1 or sumethin. If Bayern knocks out Madrid tonight it will be the biggest upset for Madrid since I can't remember when. Maybe the 4-1 vs BVB or the Ajax KO at Bernabeu.
We definitely beat PSG without the red, the xavi negativity blinds people to the fact that we were the better team with 11 on the field, we have never been a team even at our very best that is known to put in a defensive masterclass,People here keep saying, oh, but we would make the final if Araujo didn't get the red.
Really? We just watched an arguably EL level side concede 0 goals over two ties to PSG and beat them 3-0 on aggregate whilst we were on ropes for most of the two ties.
Even if we assume we beat PSG without the red, which is not that clear, who says that we beat Dortmund? We weren't good enough at all even for the weak side of the bracket.
Fact the management and club is excusing this is remarkable. We didn't get unlucky as the main reason, as clearly shown, we just weren't good enough to deserve the final over Dortmund.
People act like it is meaningless, but this kind of mentality comes from the top down, you have even seen the players start to repeat the nonsense about how they always get unlucky every game and have been so unlucky not to do better this season. There is some pervasive culture of thinking, in spite of results, we are 'superior' to other teams, and that when we lose, there is never anything we could have done, we are always just unlucky and we always deserve it more.
Is it a surprise why Xavi's knockout record is so poor? He psyches himself out and the players before the matches even start.
I think they started much better in the 2nd leg but we got a goal against the run of play. It's hard to say what would have happened, but you could start by considering that if Araujo didn't foul Barcola he might have scored and made it 1-1 there. We definitely beat PSG without the red, the xavi negativity blinds people to the fact that we were the better team with 11 on the field, we have never been a team even at our very best that is known to put in a defensive masterclass,
We weren't going to defend PSG like Liverpool under Rafa, but with XI men we had them exactly where we wanted them, weather there first 20 minutes without conceding, which is what everyone was calling for, but now it's a bad thing that we weathered it, "oh we should have been calmer and more composed" and on top of that, scored a goal and had the better chances.
After making the SF who knows, K.O football has less to do with who is the better team and more to do with what happens that night, who is mother luck with, who excuses, who makes the fewest mistakes.
Constantly saving Xavi this, Xavi that, doesn't chance the fact that with 11 men on the field, we were better than PSG.
Conceded fewer goals
Scored more goals
Created better chances
Nothin to suggest they would have been us

Dortmund's admin is on fire.
I agree the should've lost but just like in life not always things follow their natural path and at the end of the day it's still Madrid a match away from another CL final, I'd say trophy.Normally Real should have lost already against Leipzig and City
if they now lose against Bayern they have still overachieved imo
Bayern knocked out Madrid only when they were at the top of their game that season and referees didn't blatantly help Madrid go through like Kassai and the linesman did back in 2017 at Bernabeu. Not really. Well...would depend on the score. If bayern did it with 4-1 or sumethin.
Ah yes youre right. Forgot to factor in ref favouritismBayern knocked out Madrid only when they were at the top of their game that season and referees didn't blatantly help Madrid go through like Kassai and the linesman did back in 2017 at Bernabeu.
Let's say now there is VAR but still they can get away with shit like they did in both legs vs Leipzig for instance. But Bayern is a shadow of a former self this season, that's why I say it would be such a surprise if Bayern, somehow, would manage to knock Madrid out at Bernabeu in the circumstances.

I think it was certainly more likely that we went through, given the 2 goal lead, but far from guaranteed, as they were very much in it and were going to have a 1v1 on goal before the red card.

I read a mad statistic, that if RM draw away, they went through at home everytime since the early 90s.
Though, of course, no away goal rule, so not as much of an advantage as it used to be.
