No, PSG did not play bad at all. It was just that they were facing a superior opponent. And that was despite Lucho's failed experiment.
Was it really a failure tho? He was without his starting RB and had to craft together a formation to make it work without a RB. What's frustrating though is that either Montoya or Adriano would have been fine as a RB or even Bartra. Lucho's biggest mistake, which he has made twice now, is thinking Mathieu alone can handle the left side. He was by far the weakest player for us and time and again Lucas made him look quite foolish.
A back line of Bartra-Pique-Mathieu-Alba would have handled things a lot better tonight defensively and I really hope this game made Lucho and people on here realize that Bartra is the real deal Holyfield. He has the heart and tenacity of Puyol and I think he is a must in our back line for these big games going forward.
Very happy with the result, the holy trio up top is finally starting to click. I think the team is on the right track but its clear we still need to tweak some things. Busquets was poor again tonight, and I think he should be benched for Mascherano. That is partially where the problems in our formation lie, fitting both Busi and Masch along with an attacking midfielder. A midfield of Xavi-Masch-Rakitic would be much more balanced overall than trying to force Busi or Masch into a more attacking role.
With Lucho, I think he is on the right track tactically. The 3 man back line can work, but Mathieu was definitely exposed so someone else needs to fill that role if we wants to keep using it. Also, like I said earlier, Rakitic for Busquets right now would help this team be more balanced in midfield.
Neymar's goal was an absolute gem though. Its moments like that that make all the bullshit with Rosell worth it.
