radio in england this morning is reporting that saf has threatened rio ferdinand that if he doesn't "get a game" before next week,he's unlikely to play in rome.

we've only got 1 game left at Hull (a) on sunday, and given that the league is done and there's no need to field a full team,in no way do i expect him to play on sunday.

Apparantly its just tabloid talk. Apparantly.

Apparently its just tabloid talk. Apparently.

i agree with you maz but here's a link,it's from manutd.com too.

saf throwing shapes to distract journos me thinks.(from what though,i'm not sure )

in fact,it's probably designed for your benefit as opposed to anyone in england.

and i think i'm 100% certain he'll play now,as a result of this.

Interesting. So there's more to it than i thought.

I wouldn't be bothered one bit about selecting Jonny for the final. He has had a fantastic season, the kid. He is 21, and he's much like Gerard Pique - they grew up together here. It'd be a fitting tribute to our Academy if both players played in the final. It'd be a nice touch."

Your academy? Come on! SAF is a funny guy.

Heard it via Setanta sports, Fergie's still contemplating a way to get him rejuvenated in time nonetheless...also learnt that Cristiano signed an individual endorsement 5 yr contract with Nike, ergo he shouldn't be @ Real Madrid anytime soon...not that it would've hurt of course :p

This is from uniteds official website:

United may be without Rio Ferdinand in Rome should the defender fail to pass a fitness test for Sunday’s Barclays Premier League clash against Hull City.

The 30-year-old has missed the Reds’ last three games after injuring his calf in training and Sir Alex said on Wednesday it could be too big a risk to play the defender in the Champions League final without 90 minutes of football under his belt.

"I am hoping Rio will be fit for Sunday," said the boss. "If not then he's doubtful for Wednesday. I think he needs a game. To go into a Champions League final without playing for three weeks might be a bit much.

"The plan is for him to start training with the team on Thursday. Once he starts on the football training we will have a better idea about his availability for Sunday. So hopefully he will be fit."

Ferdinand hasn't played since United's Champions League semi-final second leg victory over Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium. And if he doesn't make the final then Sir Alex will call on Jonny Evans.

"I'd have no problem with it," added Sir Alex. "I wouldn't be bothered one bit about selecting Jonny for the final. He has had a fantastic season, the kid. He is 21, and he's much like Gerard Pique - they grew up together here. It'd be a fitting tribute to our Academy if both players played in the final. It'd be a nice touch."

Actually they had some crazy undefeated record after Hiddink took over, unlike Manchester United who had actually lost to Fulham... So yeah Chelsea were in fact the most in-form team in England at the time.

Check out the stats mate we went 13 games without letting a goal in so our record is miles better then there's jesus you win the league and you get slagged off.

May 27th

You will see our power when we destroy you simple as that.

----rooney

Sorry mate but no Scholes in this one the old legs will struggle to keep up with the fleet feet of Iniesta and Xavi .

ronaldo

1. Van Der sar
2. Evra
3. O Shea
4. Ferdinand
5. Vidic
6. Anderson
7. Giggs

I don`t rate Anderson and Park, I`m hoping that both will start.

I think united will play Ronaldo up front with Tevez and Rooney wide to double up on Henry and Messi. I hope they don't, but I think Fergie knows they can't out-pass us.
I'm worried about Buqsuets as DM. He showed against Chelsea he is nowhere near ready for this level yet. We need Yaya in the middle imo.

More than anything though, I just hope it's a great game. After last years bore-draw the competition needs a game of real quality and, whatever happens, both teams have had fantastic seasons.

Roll on 27th!
