Just thought to mention Jock Stein and Celtic. Celtic were the first Northern European team to win the European Cup. In total 14 of the 15 men involved came from within a 10-mile radius of Celtic Park and only Bobby Lennox, who Stein signed from Hearts, came 30 miles away.

Has any other club before or since matched this?

He's basically been their Messi pretty much. Not that him and Messi's quality is comparable, but as far as their importance for their clubs go, I would put Benzema on Messi's last two years for Barca important' level. Will actually be glad when he leaves them, they will take a while before they find another scorer consistent as him, he's been around like forever, and he always delivered for them when it mattered.

That's helluva a statistic that'll remain unmatched IMO, because the game wasn't that global back in the day. The closest Barca got to a such achievement was fielding 11 La Masia players in Tito's era.
