Ronaldo was the most important player in Madrid by a mile. All this talk about him scoring goals set up by others on a plate was rubbish.

or maybe the rest of the team declined as well? but no, continue with this narrative. we'll see how it holds up v atletico next week.

for the record, i agree CR7 was the most important player. but modric, kroos, marcelo, carvajal of 16/17 are not the same they are now.

They aren't good enough to fluke it this season. Not without the luckiest ever manager and player Zidane and Penaldo.

Don't underestimate the luck of Madrid. If they advance, and they draw PSG, PSG can bottle it at any point. Let's not even discuss the possibility of them advancing and drawing Porto or Roma. Or even Tottenham.

Back in 2016 they were outplayed and soundly beaten by Wolfsburg. And sneaked their way through easy draws in the final and won it on pens after an offside goal brought them there.

Yep.
There is almost a staggering 4 year difference in avergae age of ajax vs us (24 vs 28), Hence why we’re much less energetic.
However the biggest reason is, 7 out of our 11 starters already won 10+ trophies with barca and a at least one treble, 3 of them saw the treble twice.

They’ll never be as motivated as a team like ajax that hasn’t seen the 16th stage in more than a decade i think?

True and it makes sense. Nothing we can do about it, other than sign young and promising players who want to win.

Ajax will destroy us. We can beat Real.

Strange feeling. Don't really want Madrid out.

Why? They'll sit around for 3 months doing nothing hoping we don't win the treble for the 3rd time. Would be so much fun. Some much needed payback after they won 3 in a row.

I said on here every step of the way they'd win the last 3. Don't think they're up to it this season. If they do it'd be a farce.
