Exactly, but that's why it's too easy to defend vs Barca. We could use couple guys with heading ability, at least to bring from the bench, IF needed.

I think Lucho, for all his problems, understood this. We kind of did that in the 2nd half of the CL game at home in 2016. With proper finishing in that 2nd half we win that home game Torres was sent off in with something like 4-1. Instead, we shot blanks from all that pressure we mounted on Atletico, and won 2-1.

Suarez is pretty good at defending the first post.

But he rather butchers our attacks in playmaking phase than try and score a header in the other box.

I did post one theory 1000s of times:
1. people here are usually commenting ONLY on how a midfield plays (moving off the ball, static, possession, direct, technical, less technical etc)
2. but not too many are commenting about attacking options like scoring in different ways

No offense to anyone, but I don't think that Barca would be able to break this Atletico's bus tonight.
We would pass the ball through the ground all the time and pass to Messi.
Which is very easy to neutralize.

On the other hand, how many "lucky" headers has CR7 scored in CL knockout rounds in the last 6 years?

Crosses and headers are ugly.
I am not saying that we should cross ALL THE TIME.
But it is a very strong option.
Ideally, our team would need classical Barca's attack on the ground and some crossing+header options in the box.

When the opponent like Juve/Atletico parks the bus, too often headers are the only way to create havoc in the box.

They are losing because the opponent has SEVERAL different attacking options to break their bus.
Barca would struggle to break their bus.
We would just pass around the box and try to break them through the middle and Messi would have been surround by 4 defenders at the edge of a box.

On the other hand, 4 players can't man mark when you throw a cross...

Very well said. We need some variation to our tactic. It's too obvious and easy to play off.

They why are they parking the bus and not trying to attack when the opponent has SEVERAL different attacking options to break their bus?

Dude you should audition to be a case study for a class of Cognitive dissonance 101

thats something i don't understand with Suarez. we have Messi for playmaking.. if he focused more on doing his job as a ST maybe it wouldn't take 2+ years for a CL away goal

Nah, this theory of yours is pretty much shared by most here. It's the other one, with workhorse midfielders being better than the technical ones which I have issues with. It's obviously great to also know how to use more direct options of attacking like through crossing.

Chiellini falling down so easily and no fellow, WTF!!! LOL ... What a guy.

Sometimes football is a joke. How the fuck they let players do this? This should be yellow on this fucker. Diving is gross.

MSN went from unstoppable in 2015 to a fucking comedy show in 16/17 CL because Neymar and Suarez also wanted to be playmakers and Messi didn't want to stick to the RW.

Meanwhile its the 70th minute and Atletico are due a shot on target. So unless some out of the blue goal pits them trough it wont happen and Juve will win it, most likely within 90 minutes. If I were to put money on it its via a Penaldo.

Atletico are a bunch of fucking cucks, the whole lot of them.

Like, your entire fucking identity is built on being tough men who win every 50/50 ball and dominate in the air and you give up two fucking goals off of crosses? I understand its Cristiano but still...

Small club mentality, it amazes me too how comfortable Griezmann is being second best to Cristiano time and time again.

they are our #1 rival for the liga title though?! no clue what some people here are smoking

Exactly, and one goal changes everything...opens more space for our usual style.
Height? Well sometimes bodies are enough, good cross or pumped low ball and jump on it. Our players can do it, after all isn't aguero quite prolific with headers and he is what? 170?
Attack the box and dynamic play...that is the way to play and we lack both. Just look when we actually play a decent build up and semedo ends up alone on the edge of the box. Only suarez standing on second post and arround him 6 players...of course he'll pass back to our mids who are just standing.
