I am Leg End
Well to get to the final you'll have to get past Bayern and City so if you do that then no one can say you wouldn't have deserved it.

Another way of saying the same thing.
When faced with high intensity pressure on their final third, their defenders could not pick the right pass, their midfielders could not make the move to set them free and become passing outlets.
It's the outcome of getting used playing in a league where teams don't do that

Good comments. That's the hallmark of past it teams. The players don't have the legs and the hunger to move around and unlock pressure situations. It's the same for Madrid, and it's the same for Barca.

But, also, this is a weakness of Zidane's tactics. His system doesn't have enough flexibility and fluidity to deal with pressing properly. Guardiola outsmarted him in this tie.

We deal with pressing better when Ramos is playing though, as he is a much passer than the other CBs, his range of passing really helps.
I dont trust the other cbs to make passes between lines.

But thats not really a system, just relying on individual quality of a certain player.

What is Zidane's system?

Rather static positional game with quick switches on the wings, and insistence on crossing. He needed something different for this tie vs City. He needed fluidity in the center to unlock such pressing situations.

Well, long balls is how City planned to make Madrid play. There were no passes between the line available, because Madrid play a rather static and rigid style, similar to italian football that Zidane played in for a big part of his career.

Barca are far more capable of getting the ball from defense to midfield. Midfield struggle with the ball under pressure but they are not same thing.
It seems like minor details but it counts for a lot, with Barca you at least have defensive line to try to save you, with RM even Courtois wasn't there.

Yea, let's see them against Bayern and City. We're judging Madrid vs City here.

Madrid also lack the passing outlet from the goalkeeper that teams like Liverpool, City and Barcelona have in their goalkeepers. Courtois done some monster saves, yet his passing accuracy also increased the % of Varane's mistake in City's first goal.

Overall Madrid played a decent game and made it uncomfortable at times but undone themselves with their own errors. Missing Ramos and playing the ball out with Courtois were costly.
