Champions League

Was expecting more from Utd honestly. PSG had a clear structure about their play and what they wanted to do. Utd were practically clueless and dull going forward. Apart from some runs from Pogba they didn't seem to know how to move the ball into dangerous areas. The lack a player like a veratti to control the midfield. Herrera and Pogba are more in the workhorse mould.

Disappointing evening but i expected it. Had pointed out a few times how it would go before the tie. Whilst we are doing ok now in the League its more due to the poor standard of it at the moment.

We aren't coached well enough and lack the players despite spending a fair bit to compete at the top level. It will be like this for a while during the rebuilding stage.

The winner will come from Barca, Juve or Dortmund i feel this year. I would of included PSG in that group if Neymar was not out for the season.

Also was a bit unlucky with Lingard and Martial getting injured in the first half and maybe Kimpembe should of been sent off but inevitably outclassed in the end.

Good Luck to PSG in the competition,

United couldn't even test a 40+ year old Buffon and got outrun by a near 36 year old Dani Alves. That and Cavani and Neymar were not even on the pitch.

There's no excuse for that.

All the farmer league cuntery will probably stop this season TBH. Though I have my doubts given any loss or struggle vs Lyon will be attributed to a monumental EV fuckup rather than them actually playing well.

Back to this I guess:
I'm just kind of staggered by lack of critical thinking at times with regards to "farmer league" insults. It's as if people do not look at French national team and the pool they have at hand. You'd think people would be more respectful rather than calling any league a farmer league by now. Even 3/4 of La Liga is hardly shit quality nowadays and most teams can cause upsets. Celta and Bilbao finished in bottom half and now they're back up to contention. Bloody Eibar nearly qualified for Europa League and some people, particularly fans with no perspective, believe big teams should be battering everyone who isn't an established European name. Same things happen in Ligue 1 these days. Dutch teams are packed with talent, would anybody be majorly surprised if they managed to beat Spurs or Inter? How many matches has Hoffenheim lost at home since that memorable streak they had going? Are they "farmer league" quality?

People are idiots sometimes.

.. and Celta + Bilbao are getting their asses handed to them by less established teams.. who knew :D

PSG doing well is no surprise. They played two very very good games against Liverpool. Tuchel's stuff is clearly working in some areas, midfield especially. He looks like a meticulous tactician actually, hardly ever seems unprepared in a big fixture. Pretty sure I had them as one of those that can be semifinal bound other than Juve-Atleti pairing where I think the eventual winner sits. Hope this farmer league shtick goes away for a while after this year. Really wishing French teams well.

---------------Ter Stegen

Semedo----Pique----Lenglet----Alba

----------------Busquets

-----Alena----------------Arthur

Malcom------Messi------Dembele

I think this is the best possible line-up for the CL. Many young and hungry players who are ready to fight for the win, and a much faster, more dynamic team as well. I still think Alena isn't ready yet but he wouldn't be much worse than Rakitic and he has the potential to improve if he plays regularly. As for Suarez he often acts more as an additional defender for the opponents than a striker for Barca by stopping the attacks with a bad toch or misplaced pass, he is also too lazy to make attacking runs and move without the ball. Also in big intense games the team can't afford having two players not doing defensive work. And with a winger ahead of him Semedo is a much better player and the team can attack from both flanks instead of just one.

I believe Barca will advance but people will be surprised by how good Lyon is. Keep in mind they have two things going for them: youth and having nothing to lose.

I don't think anyone that's watched Lyon this season believes it will be a walk in the park.

Talented, fearless team. Got nothing to lose, but a helluva lot to gain. Always tricky to play against those type of teams. Also a very mobile, energetic team that we obviously struggle against.

That said, anything but us advancing to the next round would be an even bigger failure than Roma.
