Remember, Scolari wasn't calling Costa up. Had he not chosen to play for Spain, he'd either be benched in favor of Fred, or not even called up for the WC.

It's not like he is in the twilight of his career. He still has a chance at 2 WCs and 3-4 CAs. If he kept his club form, he'd 've been called-up sooner or later, its not like there is a plethora of world class players in his position for Brazil. But obviously, there is no longer a distinction to be made between club and Intl football anymore.
I wonder how much 'spanish' Costa would feel, if VDB (his biggest proponent drops him henceforth), or his successor for that matter.

Costa picked Spain because of chance at glory....He would've picked Brazil if Spain hadn't won past 3 major competitions....

Costa picked Spain because he wanted to play a WC in his home country.
Scolari did not consider him good enough or whatever for the squad which is ridiculous. I can understand Costa's decision because there was only one country who decided to give him a chance.

How do you know?

I highly doubt that. It's Brazil not San Marino... Hardly enough of a reason to betray your country so that the fans turn on you.

I'm guessing it's something personal.

Not just one poor match, he did woefully in all of his matches for Spain so far, clearly doesn't fit the system plus he's Brazilian.

He keeps playing so he fits in. It's not like Spain has any better options upfront to replace Costa quickly.

And what does being Brazilian has anything to do with this?! Thiago Motta and Pepe are Brazlians too. Shiould they stop playing for Italia and Portugal?

Flavia is Brazilian so she said he shouldn't play again because she's kind of butthurt :p It's not my opinion that he shouldn't play because he's Brazilian, just a response to your question to Flavia.

He doesn't fit in, VdB is just stubborn. Villa is much better for Spain and he has shown that in the friendly just before the WC.

So apparenyly Chelsea are looking at CSKA LB Georgi Schennikov instead of Shaw. He'd cost 7m pounds only, 20 cheaper than Shaw. Not sure how good he is but he did make Russia's World Cup squad, no idea if he's first choice or not.

I don't think they should have been playing for them in the first place. 17 and 18 is too late to be changing your nationality IMO.

Only read one article about it so it's probably just rumours for now. I mean, the article says Shaw would rather go to Man Utd than us, so that should say it all. I'd love to get Shaw but 27m is steep. It'd be worth it in the end but for the now, we're trying to abide by FFP, it'll be hard to buy too many more expensive players after spending 60m on 2 guys.
