fabiano relied heavily on opening prep in classical time controls. and he's more of a tactical player that relies on combinations and calculation (well atleast he used to be when he was exciting)

rapid chess requires a deep intuition for the game and favors those who just have a feel for positional intricacies. magnus has that. fischer had that. capablanca had that. all by far and away the best under rapid time controls.

Top 1. Fischer has the better story though. Personally, from an entertainment point of view, I like Mikhail Tal the best.

Very under appreciated and under achieved because of his drinking/health problems.

An attacking monster like no other (Kasparov bettered him but was not as brave/creative). Yes, the computers show some sacrifices were unsound but they fail to account for the fear factor they created.

Carlsen is like a modern day Karpov. Not particularly exciting but will defeat you because simply he plays the best move at a time. Karpov had kaspa but Carlsen has nobody luckily for him.
