Eriksen assisted both the goals and played well.
Dont think you watched it.
I lost interest by half time but from what I saw Dembele was far more involved and effective in the general play.
Presumably the assists came after Newcastle's main player , captain and midfield general had been sent OFF the pitch

His first assist was a decent ( at best ) ball into a crowed box , the second was a fluke , he had no intention of passing and the other guy just took it off his toes

If you want to compare players by their stats, you will find out that Eriksen is the one that has more than double assists, key passes, chances created.
I dont really know how can you see Rakitic in him, Rakitic is kinda the strong one, does a lot running off the ball to win possesion, is much slower, he is much more defensive, while Eriksen is the one always going forward, looking for a key pass, it seems like a danger is bout to happen everytime he has the ball, and the body feints that he is doing are just absolute filth, for me thats what makes him seem just much better than everyone else, this one for example:

I dont like to compare players from their highlights, I agree that Coutinho can be really good in big games, but my problem with him is that he is actually very inconsistent against small teams, you can look at something like Burnley highlights, he will go for his trademark goal 20 times and the game ends with the 0-2 loss.
If you'd like to judge them from highlights you can check out Eriksen vs PSG, he got that banger in there, also he always takes a shit on Chelsea, which is also a very big team imo.

my bad, you areright, he has more chance created and assists, coutinho on the other hand has more goals, Shot Accuracy, Pass Accuracy, Duels Won.
but he also played 5 more games than coutinho, and is in a far stronger team I would say, spurs were competing for the league in the last two seasons, with players like kane, ali, walker, M.dembélé and a good GK (lloris), while phil played with shit defense and a shitty gk (mignolet)
don't get me wrong, eriksen is a great midfield, but I Just can't see him suit barca like coutinho would, the latter has magical feets and quicker/more agile. he adds more to liverpool than eriksen adds to spurs.

Spurs fans appreciate him enough that they gave him player of the season ahead of all those mentioned, even Harry Kane who had the most prolific season any striker has had in the Premier League before (Suarez and Ronaldo included). Second award in four tries for Eriksen.
