Just making an observation :pep:

Funny how Paul Merson and Keith Andrews had Xavi in their XIs, surely the player has to make the starting XI for one of the teams before being considered for the combined XI.

Forgive them. They are stuck in their ignorant state. I remember Andy Townsend kept commenting how Xavi should never give the ball away when we played City last season. Makes you wonder whether they watch any football outside the BPL.

The game is on ITV tonight but I think Andy Townsend has been fired so the commentary won't be as bad as normal :neymar:

Paul merson dosent know shit, thats my opinion after reading that. Frickin xavi? He is obviously not seeing Barca at all. Then an ad hominem: wasnt lee dixon a coke addict back in the days?

That Arsenal team!! Their whole defense was alcoholics or addicts! And they were good. And the beutiful owngoal from lee dixon of course, best of all time.

I think putting in Joe Hart is worse than putting in Xavi. Hart is awful on a good day whereas we have two solid Gks. He does comment that he doesn't know much about the Barca keepers though.

Wouldn't mind Xavi in the team tonight, Iniesta and Rafinha were both bad last weekend, so why not give Xavi the start? We need to control the game, to avoid that ManCity slaughter us on the counter-attack. I would like to see Rakitic and Xavi start tonight

Merson is a numpty. He has Hart in goal and Kompany in the side. Literally City's most error prone and clumsy players. He hasn't got a clue.

If we control the game that means we will be susceptible to the counter, if we dominate the ball then they will sit back and wait to get the ball when we get close to their box and then go for the counter.

Agreed. High intensity is what we need tonight.

Don't ever waste your time reading anything to do with Merson, Townsend or most Pundits in England unless its Henry, Carragher or Neville. They literally have no idea about anything.

Merson really is only good when his cocaine addled brain is messing things up on Soccer Saturday.

spot on!

Couldn't agree more to be honest! Those 3 are the only pundits operating in England who actually earn their wages and have a good knowledge of tactics/form of teams/players outside of the EPL bubble. Nowadays most fans have a better knowledge of the game and are more on the pulse of what's going on than the likes of Merson, Townsend, Redknapp, Shearer etc.

I actually rate Danny Murphy as well though and would add him to the list of football pundits currently working in England who are worth watching/reading.

I don't trust those either. Neville will never criticise the players he works with in the England set up, not too long ago he said Hart was better than De Gea for example. Carragher also has his mates and Henry I'm not sure yet.

To be fair Neville has been critical of Man Utd and Carragher has been critical of Liverpool since becoming pundits. It's hard to be completely neutral. At least they earn their wages by having a good knowledge of the game and not just the EPL and stay up to date with what's going on with teams/players regarding tactics/form etc.

Merson gets paid to talk about football and yet he doesn't know anything about Claudio Bravo or that ter Stegen is more likely to start for us tonight anyway or what Pique's current form is like or that Xavi hasn't been a regular starter this season...

I've read dozen of former English player names in last 2 pages. I'd hate to be under such epl propaganda.

Makes me sick even reading their retard quotes in here.

You get used to it. Needless to say it gets annoying when it seeps into epl fans.
