Omg... tuned into Sky Sports News and it's allllllll going on now, focusing on the "demise of English football" with all English teams out of EU competitions. They're asking players & managers what they think.
Some hailing Barça as the best team in EU whilst others are making up excuses as to the current standing of the PL, how it's apparently a demanding league and compared to the "different styles in other countries like Italy & Spain it manages to stay demanding" or some garbage like that, with top quality players too

Fans, journalists and pundits of the EPL, have been smack and in denial for far too long to acknowledge/comprehend/accept that their league was never as great as they thought it was. Even during their brief golden period of 2006 to 2009, it was only the EPL Big 4 that was doing remarkably well in Europe (in the UEFA Cup, the EPL clubs have been bad even between 2006 and 2009) and even then, most of their crucial victories over continental opponents were extremely marginal, something that many people forget.
Since Pep's Barca broke their streak in 08/09, it has been mostly downhill for the EPL clubs, despite the fact that their financial advantage has only grown exponentially since then! This is most astonishing and downright bizarre. In the end, the money that the EPL is generating (far, far ahead of any other league) is going to tell, but from our point of view, we can only hope to delay that date for as long as possible, and the LFP should be busting its ass promoting La Liga all over Asia (especially China, and maybe India, as also Latin America as well as the Latinos in the US) It's such a shame that La Liga is doing all the good football part, all the winning part as well, while it is the EPL that rakes the big bucks in. EPL clubs have been underwhelming in Europe for several years now, yet this has not at all affected the mysterious popularity of that league. Really unfair!
