Bayern by 4 goals.
They are better than us at every position. Not going to be pretty. Bayern -155 is looking pretty juicy.
Under no illusions as to the strength of their squad, but a couple notes.
1) This time, we should prepare tactically in a way in which conceding 3 or 4 is not possible and certainly not 8. If Xavi is tactically astute, he will shut up shop and look for opportunities to break on the counter. Despite the manner in which we lost last time, their goals were pretty weak and with more luck/a more motivated team we could have got a result in Camp Nou.
2) This game matters way more to us than it does to them, not just for the CL qualification, but for our finances, that the TV rights of CL are absolutely vital for at this moment.
Yes, they want to crush us, and their players will want to too, but no manager is risking injuries in a meaningless game and playing full strength 11 with mid week games coming up. We can expect a bit of rotation probably and if we go in there playing rough, they will surely ease off.
It won't be acceptable for us to not try. At the least, we are going in there tactically disciplined, motivated and giving it a good go. As I said much worse teams than us have done it, and if we get embarrassed again by a Bayern with nothing to play for it will be down to the mental midgets in the team throwing tantrums at the sight of good players.
We'll probably lose by 2. Don't think it will be a beatdown because it's very unlikely Bayern who have already qualified as 1st will be more motivated than us in this game.
If they come out cold and relaxed, and we run like dogs all game, we might make it close.
I think I am in complete opposition to this post of yours!
I think that Bayern is much far ahead in their process, they are a "senor team" or whatever the phrase was Xavi used. No they are world class, and well built. Xavi is a couple weeks in. So a bad result can be easily explained by that. I don't think though that Bayern are inherently much better than Barcelona, they have just had more time building a more coherent style.
The way Barcelona can compete is not by 'tactically astutely' sitting back and countering, they must play to their own strengths and beat Bayern that way. This is how you try!
Bayern are like those Chads who get off on humiliating the nerds and virgins. They'll be out for blood from the start on wednesday.
The weaker the opposition, the more motivated Bayern is.
Have to say that since I'm watching football in the late 90s and early 00s, Bayern almost always had top teams, with a brief but notable bad patch in the mid-00s. Their 2.5 CLs in 20something years is a pretty bad outcome .
