Cody Gakpo

Was intrigued to learn more about Gakpo. He impressed me at the world cup. Just saw this YT vid, giving a full blown analysis on the player (seems to be from a Manchester United perspective): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OoO3-cicepc

I think he will be immense for Liverpool. They certainly know how to extract value from the market.

Liverpool will really go back to the place where they have been their whole history. After Salah is gone, they will be lucky to be in top4.

Very innacurate comment.
It appears you don't know Liverpool's history a all, or you recently started watching football.
Mane has gone, firmino is leaving,It's just Salah left and he too will be replaced.Their main problem now is their midfield and centrebacks.

So basicly they need 10 new players?

Gakpo and Nunez are trash.

Gakpo is a decent player and Nunez has tons of potential. Despite messing up a lot infront of net, his scoring record is actually very decent for a first season in a new league.

Liverpool is struggling due to massive injuries and needing to strengthen defense and buy an entire new midfield.

About Liverpool and new attackers, imo it seems that there is way more rich teams today than 10-20-30 years ago.

For example, Barca during Pep, who was our opponent for signing Villa or Henry?

Maybe RM and 1 foreign club?

Today, the stakes are high, all teams are rich and everyone need top attackers.

Barca, RM, Atletico, P$G, Man City, Man Utd, Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal, Tottenham, Bayern, Milan, Juventus, Inter.

But even midtable EPL teams can splash 50m for a player.

Also, with a rise of internet and social media, it is hard to find a hiddem gem like in 1996' or 2002'.

So, regarding Gakpo and Nunez, since we have 10-15 rich teams, it is just impossible to find 15-20 new attackers each new season and thus majority of signings are overpriced and end as flops.

Mudryk, Nunez, Anthony, Gakpo.
Every random attacking player costs 50-80 millions.
None of them had any experience in top5 leagues and barely played a CL at all.

But Dortmund bought Haaland for 20m and before that Salzburg got him for peanuts.

And Almeria signed Darwin for 5m and sold him to Benfica for 25m. I wanted Barca to sign him from Almeria before he went to Benfica and while he's still a work in progress and maybe wouldn't make it investing in his potential would be much better than signing Braithwate for similar money.

You don't need to pay 50 or 80m if you find players faster than other clubs and have patience (which is another thing that most clubs but especially spoiled fans who write players off after one or two games don't have) with them while they develop.

And I know it's easier to develop in Austrian league (but then again Haaland was scoring a goal per game also in CL while playing for Salzburg so it's not like he only performed in a "poor" league) or Spanish Segunda but you can also sign player you like and then loan him until he's ready for your first team.

Even in this era you can still get hidden gems for cheap like we've proved with likes of Araujo and Pedri. I know strikers values are usually more inflated but "there are more rich clubs" is just an excuse for either poor scouting, bad decision making of Sporting Department or usually both.

We don't have plan, we live from year to year.

We should invest and risk more with young talents...

But again, knowing who was our president who was destroying club on all lvls we are happy to exist.

In 6 years of Bartomeu era we didn't sign one world class player, it was 40 dog shit transfers except Dembele...
