His game is so simple and subtle that when he isn't playing that well he looks like a liability, but he is still useful and better than average even at his worst.

Of course, still one of the best CM's - but unfortunately he is loosing his edge slowly but surely. Thiago might not be ready to play more than Xavi and he might even go to Man U, but imo we need a CM if Thiago leaves - Xavi's impact on the game is slowly diminishing
