Copa Libertadores

Entertaining final and a well-deserved win by River. A much more likable club (IMO), a club with a much better youth academy and a much better playing style as well so not exactly sad about the result. Gallardo has really done a great job at River. Won all 4 finals against Boca as well. I would like to see him prove himself in Europe. Ideally Spain or Italy. Both would be the best options for footballing, cultural and historical reasons to try ones luck in, in Europe.

I also feel that River would be a tougher opponent for RM in the FIFA Club World Cup later this month but I don't expect any other winner other than RM. Not that them winning that trophy would bother me much but I would obviously prefer them losing and River are the only ones that are capable of stopping them from doing just that.

Next year's final will likely be played outside of South America. It was to be played at Estadio Nacional in Chile. But there is an Iron Maiden concert a bit more than a month before it, so COMMENBOL is planning to move it likely to Europe again.

Palmeiras-Botafogo
Has to be the craziest shit I've seen in a while
Copa libertadores, ro16, second leg
Botafogo lead 4-1 on aggregate in, like, 86th min then Palmeiras comes back with 2 quick goals. Last minute and Palmeiras scores an equalizer - only for VAR to cancel it for a handball (questionable handball imo). All that while Botafogo players are constantly wasting time with hilarious simulations and referee falls for it everytime.
As if that was not enough, Palmeiras went for one last attack. Got a free kick from 20 meters, perfect position. It hits the woodwork and the referee finally blows the whistle.
Some huge talent on the pitch I saw, including the Estevao guy. Didn't really do much but he has shown the incredible talent he has. 2nd best 17 year old winger in the world right now (just after our own).

I was up at 2am and randomly ran across this game on TV, funny shit because I surely didn't regret it. At the end Botafogo go to quarter finals but they were the inferior side.

Luiz Henrique scored a goal and earned a penalty for the 2nd goal. Looked good with Betis, and is one of their best players.

One would have hoped such players could be kept in Liga tbh

Reportedly involved in match-fixing.

[UOL] Luiz Henrique received more than £5,000 from Lucas Paquetá's uncle and cousin, days after receiving yellow cards while he was playing for Betis. Paquetá's uncle admitted that he has won money from betting on at least one of the games played by Luiz Henrique, but claimed it was just pure luck.

Could be one of the reasons why Betis sold him.
