System is fine and works but as anything else is dependent on focused players. Kounde was asleep on 2 occasions and there you have it.

Barca heavily overplayed Atletico in terms of all statistical data and there is little to complain about Flick. Other than bad subs. Shouldnt sub in 2 chaotic players when you need to control the match.

Proud of the team come-back and level of football and had we had a average 9 we would have scored 6.

The philosophy is fine. But sometimes when you're 4-2 up with 10 minutes to go against a strong opponent, you have to be conservative and solidify the result.

Even Pep and Klopp(the most progressive managers) do that sort of thing. Pep tries to make his defense more compact and keep the ball, passing it around aimlessly as a defensive mechanism in these scenarios.

Flick is dogmatic with his system and in these situations, it's just plain dumb and naive. No one is asking him to park the bus. People are just asking him to be a bit more conservative in the last few minutes in these sort of games. Instead Flick makes it end to end and the other team still always have a shot. Slot just kills the game in these situations.

Good post.

Casado at RB or DMC, Araujo at CB or RB. This result is mostly on Flick handing control to ATL by losing the midfield, while also keeping a high line. I hope he notices it as he closed out games well in LaLiga.

I think he saw the amount we created in this match versus Atleti and banked on them needing to get a goal atleast and to try and take advantage of the spaces they left. Good and bold in theory, but with the wrong personnel. We already started with Ferran and Olmo, who are usually our subs for this situation. When we changed them for Lewy and Gavi (not to mention Raphi leaving the wing for Fermin), we were back to 20/21 and no pace in the attack to counter.

In the end, a little more quality squad depth and those last 15/20 minutes we would have grabbed another goal or two and succeeded.

But yesterday, Flick should have read the bench and realised he couldn't perform what was the intention and should have instead retracted a little to close the game.

You guys are overreacting Imo, tbf, I only watched the first half but the performance and mentality there was enough to convince me that this team has character to overcome situations like these. Ik bottling a 4-2 lead with 10 minutes to go is criminal but it’s better to get the wake up call now before any title deciding matches
